I'm considering using OpenSubdiv for making puzzles -http://graphics.pixar.com/opensubdiv/
Specifically, my use case is that I'd like to be able to make a relatively low polygon count figure in OpenScad, because that this is slow as molasses, and then clean it up using OpenSubdiv. Which leads to the questions -
Is there a command line utility which will run OpenSubdiv on an stl file?
How well does it clean stuff up? Does it tend to add material, remove material, or a combination of the two? Does it preserve hard edges?
Does anybody have experience with this?
