Before the release of the new 6x6, (I'm not sure if it's a KO or not, so I won't say it. But it's the new one.) for 6x6 mods, did people use V-6's? And if so, did you mod them to get rid of the clicking first? Or did you leave the clicking?

Pretty sure I know which 6x6 you're talking about, and yes, it's a KO. I've heard it's not a very good one, either.

As for 6x6 mods, yes, people used/still use V6s. I have one modded one that eventually fell apart because some of the pieces broke and the pins fell out, and one unmodded one that clicks and is really loose. (I just hate 6x6s in general. )

There is a 6x6x6 out there with a new mech. Its mech is a 2 layer one where the corners and hidden center edges are firmly held into the central core of the puzzle giving it an internal 3x3x3 (somewhat like with a Rubik’s 5x5x5). The other pieces are then held in place by a combination of the centers, hidden center edges, and corners, unlike the V-Cube where everything is held in by the centers alone. This makes for a much more stable puzzle which may be better for modding, especially if you are going to cut into it. Also, there is no clicking. The overall mech is therefore not a copy of the V-Cube, none of the pieces are copies of the V-Cube pieces, and even though they may look somewhat similar in some regards they used flat angled surfaces instead of conical cuts so that it also doesn’t violate the V-Cube patent.

But some people still insist that it is a KO because it competes with V-Cube.

According to that logic, any cubic twisty puzzle from 2x2 to 5x5 is a KO because they compete with Rubik's.

I modded my V-Cube 6 with the Pi mod, and it actually turned out pretty well.

I ended up selling it, though.
