Statement: This is not my mod. It's from my friend Jerry. He is interested in collecting puzzles. Sometimes he do modification too. He asked me to post a topic in TP for him recently. And so here are the photos. This is his first mod.
Hereby I translate for him:
MOD activities is hot recently in China. Especially because Smaz held lots of mod competitions. Being affected by them, I tried to mod a puzzle. I called it "Fire Dragon ball". Because it's a sphere form puzzle with red & gold sticker which inspire me the term "Fire". I finished this mod in "dragon" year of China. That's why I called it "Fire Dragon Ball".
The puzzle was cutted from a pyraminx crystal. Using a few plastic pieces & stickers with numbers on it.
Precedure:
1-Rough mesurement on the puzzle
2-Cut the corner
3-Cut the edge
4-rip off original sticker
5-sanding
6-placing plastic sheet
7-sanding again
8-cleaning
9-sticker
It made me very tired while sanding the puzzle. But I felt good after the achivement.
With numbered stickers I place different numbers on each face, which make this puzzle a sudoku one. To solve it we got to place different numbers from 0-9 on each face. But we don't have to place them in order, just placing randomly. I think it'll be very hard. Any sudoku expert want to try it?
At last, I want to thanks Smaz for pushing up mod activities in China, Aiai for give me a Saw, Gorden for helping on the sticker, Lunny for the advice about sudoku, and "beijing noodles" for naming it.
Thank you for watching.
