No wait. I am one of those who highly apreciates the puzzle and never complained about it.
You should take a cap off and take out one of the screws. Other possibility is to pull out one of the point pieces.

What I did was just pulled the centre cap off. From there, the points of the star around the centre should be loose enough to disassemble. After that, the puzzle should be easy to disassemble.
