What is the mechanism for the magic octahedron? I have seen reports that it is based on a 3x3x3 mechanism... I'm only curious becuase as I was perusing the articles section, in the troubleshooting plastic article, I noticed the three octahedrons and was wondering how and if I could build one.

Altough it has six axles it has not a standard 3x3x3 mechanisme. a 3x3x3 could be used as base, but the magic octahedron has a little cube as kernel with some screws at six sides even a simpler type of kernel.
