I've done the small one, it's a nice mod and cool fun, you would get RSI solving the big one :) .
You can see mine in the background on my YouTube channel (don't worry, there's no auto play or such).
Cheers,
Burgo.

Ever since I saw the junior barrel in the museum I have wanna make that but I don´t know how to take it apart. Can you please tell me how to make the little barrel? I think it also could be a little bit harder to solve.

Hi Andreas,

It's really easy to make.. the black caps are just pressed onto a metal shaft, you just need to pull them apart with direct force and maybe a slight wiggling motion. Then I just cut a piece out of the internal plastic shaft (be careful it's brittle) and glue it back together shorter (minus the width of one clear barrel piece). Alternatively you could make a new one of these internal shafts.

It's not harder to solve :) .
Cheers,
Burgo.

I hope someone will do this with the recently-released Star Barrels. :)

Wow! And I thought these were collector's items. I collect twistypuzzles as well as Nintendo video games and other merchandise, so for me the Ten Billion Barrel is quite a unique crossover item in terms of collecting. I have the newer Platinum reward "Star Barrel" and a heavily used vintage barrel which does not turn good. If I could open the vintage barrel to remove the plastic dust and add some Silicone lube inside the shaft, it might turn better. The two layer barrel is danged hard enough as it is (Jaap lists a rather long-winded solution on his puzzle page). I can't imagine solving the three-layer version. You should call it the "Ten Trillion" Barrel!

(1 layer = 2 beads)

1-layer = "Ten Million"
2-layer = "Ten Billion"
3-layer = "Ten Trillion"

I paid about the same price for each of the Nintendo barrels on ebay a couple years ago in separate auctions. Club Nintendo members get way cooler goodies in Japan than they do in North America. :scrambled:

This is the end of the extension line. Adding more than 2 layers won't work correctly because the uppermost marbles would sit lower than the separation line between the layers. This is an problem in this modification as well but here it still works.

Hello, this is what it says on the museum, I ask myself a question:

Would not it be possible to reduce a little the width of the discs to fit the sum of two balls?

Someday I have time I will try ... :)

Yikes!
Interesting to recognize:
I count 10 layers and 21 marbles per column.
The space where the topmost marble should be is almost empty.

In the museum it says about the four layer puzzle:

I wonder if this 10 layer puzzle is fully scramblable at all?

*apologies if i am taking the thread too far off topic*
