Hey Twisty Puzzle fans,

Spending the last two years reading and learning a wealth of knowledge from this forum I have decided to post my most recent modification. I searched for a modification similar to this one with no luck, so if it has been posted before I apologize for posting again.

This is the Square-1 Slim modification first done by LanceTheBlueKnight to my knowledge. I have learned a lot from his website http://www.blueknightcubing.com/ and my new found love for the square 1 puzzle and its terrible bulkiness led me to try this out.

I used a CubeTwist square 1 after ruining my mf8 square 1 with ball core, because I cut before taking the caps off and looking at the internals. It is an extremely easy modification which only requires you to cut down the empty space in the corner/edge pieces. You can even re cap the pieces with the original caps if you wish. It has made this puzzle way more portable and I now take it everywhere with me.

Nice work! This raise the question: Why have noone made a full Bump Square-1?

Very nice! how much thinner is it than the un-modded version? I mean, how much did you take off of each face?

I don't suppose it is possible to make it cubic, and that height, by further cutting down the other 4 faces? Because although simple, I would LOVE THAT

Lastly, Can I suggest a name- the "Slim-1"?

It is roughly 13mm shorter than the regular 57mm size. so around 6.5mm each face, not a lot at all.



I believe there have been a few people to make a bump Square 1, and that name would be awesome however I did not think of this mod and so I am keeping to the name Lance has given it. Also I believe a cubic version would be possible at this height If a shorter screw were used as you would need to take roughly 3 mm off of each face.

If you go through my old posts, I have pictures of an uncapped mini square one. You don't have to do anything to the screw.

Very cool, glad to see the puzzle in white. I think white plastic actually looks a bit better on mods, as a good deal of mass-produced puzzles are black plastic. White just makes the cubes stand out as your own more than something you see everyday on the market.

God, I miss Lance. He was a fantastic builder and YouTuber...
