I really want to build this puzzle but I'm not really sure of the methods I planned. Here is a vid of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1i5F7ze9OgWhat I planned is to use a pillow mastermorphix and sand each faces until the small triangle which is a corner, piece is gone. After sanding, I will use pyraminx pieces to cap the pieces. Do you thin this might work? Thank you. Rex Perez

That mod in the video looks awesome (the best part is that it will fool anyone who doesn't know what to expect), I wish you luck in making your own.

I thought these were impossible, because when they were mass-produced they weren't shaped like that. Does anyone know why they weren't pyraminx look-alikes? Is it because of possible confusion?

Is it because of possible confusion? Maybe they wanted the version that they're currently selling. The puzzle is possible, but there will always have to be a small corner piece in the middle, or a small hole, due to the geometry.

if you look at the trignis, you'll realize that the size of the triangles are actually quite different. the mf8 magic octahedron also has quite large holes in the centers of the faces. yet, nobody complains that these two puzzles are either lacking aesthetically, or misproportioned. if you built the mastermorphix based off of a 333 with extremely small circles (think Oskar's floppy cuboid series) you'd be able to get away with a small internal corner and pieces that look more or less normal.

Hi, this puzzles named by Frank Schwartz as well know as " flambore" "Mastermorphynx" use black and sticker size for faked you see the pieces almost same size. but indeed it is very different size, I cut the regular 3x3 and paste on it by plastic sheet. I also plan to make it by 3x3mirror block but still never do it. I think it will be better apperance. My oppinion you should use plastic sheet it would be easier. see some more picture of it : made base on C4U3x3 enjoy

Thanks Traiphum for the advice,so I should truncate as deep as the corner piece will gone? And do you think a DS cube can be used?too bad for be because I don't have any money to buy a plastic sheeting, and what I really planned is use pyraminx pieces to cap. I wish my plan will work... Rex Perez
