Very cool. I love the Tuttminx variations, the Pyraminx Crystal and Starminx variations look so cool!

RubixFreakGreg I can't believe you have finished designing it so quickly. You are very good. And I am curious. Does it jumble.

there have been so many of these threads lately... may be we should make one thread for them all. but it might get confusing if you were in the middle of talking about one design, and then someone posted a new idea.
edit: oh, and definitely make the puzzle you designed

To be honest, I can't stand these threads. Let me tell you why. First, you may or may not have working mechs for those puzzles. By publishing this without a finished product or at least a working mech, people who may have been working hard on those very puzzles for hours upon hours can't claim them as their own. Is this fair? I can't make that call you have to make it for yourself. Just some food for thought.

Do you think that Gelatinbrain should stop adding puzzles that haven't been built yet, too?
Chilen has a simulator program that he adds new puzzles to as he thinks of them (or sometimes after people build them). There's no problem with that. He's just publicizing his ideas with this thread, and making it clear that anyone can try to build a physical one if they want.

Actually, I usd the dayan Gem mech as I said, so the core was very fast to design. The whole puzzle took me about 10minutes for the shape, 10 minutes for cuts and mech, and 10 minutes for core and fillets. It jumbles As for #4 line 2 it is very hard to make on autocad so i'll leave it for someone with solidworks And Chris, don't make a fuss about puzzles being designed by many people at a time

People throwing ideas into the public arena is often a major boost to creativity, sometimes spawning dozens of new ideas beyond the original. Besides, a lot of people lack the ability to make their ideas a reality, and making them public increases the chances that someone will bring the idea to fruition.
As for the above posted puzzle ideas, how do those tetrahedrons and that square antiprism turn?

How about a Holey (Void) Mental Block with full 100% holiness (voidiness) in one direction? I know Oskar could get close with his spherical void Skewb design (I forget it's name) but I am curious to know if it can be fully done.

Do the two additional axes you mention allow the pentagonal pyramids to rotate independently from each other along the equator of the puzzle (for one deep slice)? If so, do you envision all of the small two-faced diamonds to be divided in half, or only the ones originally at the equator so that bandaging is created?

Here's a related idea. This one is a two-layer dihedral with eight vertical cuts, but the horizontal cut is limited to 90 degree turns because of the alternating cut depths. It would of course be possible to make the cuts deeper than this, which would make it more challenging to solve. (Rendering courtesy of Oskar.) Attachment:

Bram, could that be built up from a masterball?
I don't actually own one, but they both have cuts at 45* vertically, and horizontal cut(s)
and for that matter, how do you make an 8 part cheese-type puzzle?

I don’t think it’s like that. Those part never leave the position the are in except for orientation. Unless I’m missing something couldn’t they be connected to the core? I could be way off.

The issue is that the cuts around the edges of the tetrahedron would cut off any possible connection to a core. It might be possible if the shape of the cuts are changed slightly, but I haven't tried this design.

I have not tried to design the puzzle, but an approach similar to the 6 axis core for the dino cube may work.
I'm not sure the 90 degree turns on this puzzle are jumbling moves. It's just a regular 3x3, no?
