Hi guys. Things have slowed down enough to allow me to start working on a small project but I have come across a problem.

When spraying my silicon molds with silicone spray, I notice that the cast piece sometimes contains small pots or gaps. These seem to be different from normal air bubble points and doesn't happen without the spray. This never happened previously with the spray.

I'm wondering if perhaps the spray is getting old, or the materials. Had anyone come across this affect before, I've never seen it in three years? I'll include a picture if the description is a bit hazy.

Is it a temperature issue. I noticed that I would get streaking and patterns on the surface if I used silicone spray that was cold.

Never holes/gaps though, that sounds like a reaction. Is the resin old? Old polyethylene can do weird things.

Or maybe dust, but I guess you've thought of that.

Now temperature sounds definately like the issue. Anyway, I managed to resolve it for now until I get frsh stuff and also until spring comes.

When the polyurethane is curing, I run a tool over ever surface to break up the possible effect patterns. Seems to work ok. It may force these artifacts into the centre of the piece, I don't know. As long as it works.
