After an enjoyable afternoon creating the dodecagonal prism from a few spare Square-1's I found hiding in a box, I couldn't help but scramble the little devil up and start to solve it. I had thought while I was making it that there could be some states that the normal Sq-1 solution might not work and my thoughts were correct.
Most of the dodecprism CAN be solved using the Sq-1 solution but there exists a case that goes beyond what the Sq-1 requires...
Each wedge is 30 degs. So the state I currently am trying to find a move for would be swapping 2 wedges on the same face that are seperated by one wedge without disturbing the rest of the puzzle. That's all I have left to solve... This state cannot present itself at the end of the Sq-1 solution as the Corners are 60 degs...
So if you number the wedges in order from 1 to 12 on one side, I would need to swap wedges 1 & 3...
I'm sure that it might be possible to combine Sq-1 soultion moves to reach my goal but I'm wondering if anyone has found a simple move to acheive this goal...
talk to you all later, _pink

I would start by looking at Jaaps masterball solution, you will have to keep the middle slice moving but apart from that think of the prism as a 12 way masterball with one centre slice, should be easier than a sq1 solution.

More exactly, line up pairs of wedges one above the other with Jaaps moves a & b from the masterball page then solve as a hockey puck.

I kinda feel like an idiot now. I was walking the dog when it hit me to shift one piece to the bottom, realign it, move back to the top and solve for either one of the two moves I use to switch two opposite top layer pieces or two adjacent pieces... man what a dumbass I can be sometimes...
thanks for the masterball tips, I hadn't really looked at the dodecprism that way but I guess it very well can be now can't it? ;)
so in essence, the dodecprism can be solved with Sq-1 sequences and a little creativity... ;)
