So I got just got my DIY cubes from 9spuzzles (thank you, Finder) and I'm not exactly sure what configuration I'm supposed to have the center cubie/water/screw/spring/other washer.

First I tried putting the items on the screw in this order:

large washer
center cubie
small washer
spring

and then screwing it into the thing in the middle, but that didn't seem right, so now I just tried:

center cubie
large washer
spring
small washer

and then screwing it into the middle piece.

Confirm/deny? Am I doing this right?

Oh, I'm an idiot. I just had a realization.

You put the large washer then spring, then small washer on the screw, THEN you put it through the center cubie and THEN you screw it into the middle piece.

Sorry....

I was wondering why the damn center cubies were so far apart. I'm an idiot.

In an attempt to salvage my cred and make this a somewhat useful thread, I'll ask a better question.

So, when you guys put together your 9spuzzles DIY cubes, it comes with two washers per screw. The washers have like, a shiny, smooth side and a dull side. Which side do you face toward the spring? Do you think it matters? I made it so that the shiny side of the washers were pointing in, at the spring.

In future can you please just edit your posts, instead of making 5 posts in a row.

I put the shiny side facing in towards the core.

Oh, I didn't even think of that. Sorry. The boards I post on usually don't have edit features. Noted.
