Man, is there ever going to be another competition near Texas?! The Dallas one was supreme.

Me, if my future behaves like expected. Btw, Tyson called it US Open 2007.

(Question: Is "Me" the right way to start that sentence or is "I" better?)

I is correct English, however, me is accepted due to general ignorance.

Sorry for the trail off topic, but Dan Harris and I ( ) were discussing with some of the Dutch competitors how it is virtually impossible to talk in proper English....

I'm not sure...I think I'd say 'me' as well if I had to choose but most likely I'd just ignore it and say "I'm going,..." or "I am,..." instead.

"I am" is a convincing argument for "I", the latter looking like a legitimate shortcut for the former. Thanks.

And now a little more back on topic. I have a job now so money is less of a problem and I want to go to a big competition in the US again (WC2005 was great), so that's why I intend to go. Maybe I'll also be able to attend one this year...

You're right. I changed the title. I'm going to be there. Since there's a direct flight from Rochester to Chicago, I'm flying since it's easier than driving (plus the cost of the flight is cheaper than two nights of hotels, plus I don't have to take time off of work). Since my hotel for Saturday night I won't be able to check-in until 3, I'm going to do this Amazing Race style, with a single backpack with my puzzles and a change of clothes.

Stefan, where do you work now?

The question was "anyone else going?" You should probably say, "Yes, I am, if..." But you definitely shouldn't say, "I, if..." because you can think of the "me" (an object pronoun) as the direct object for going, whereas "I" is a subject pronoun. "Me" might even be correct as well.

'I' was the correct way to say it, however, as I have said, 'me' is more accepted due to general ignorance, and 'I' is considered more old fashioned.

Meh, I can't go. I'd be in the US by that time, though.

Well since it's chicago, there is no way I'd miss it.
If there are any out of towners that need a place to stay, let me know, I may be able to accomidate some of y'all.

Chicago is supposed to be cool! If everyone stayed away from places that they were told were 'dangerous', we'd probably stay in our houses for our whole lives (but wait! think of all the disasters that could happen in the house! Is there no safe and peaceful place in this world!??)

On another note, I'm in Texas...I can't drive/fly there.

i do thinks labeled as "dangerous" all the times, but risking getting shot by some random gang that just doesn't like me (they would somehow pick me out of a crowd, i know it!) doesn't really sound all that appealing to me...

chicago is a great town and its not that bad. there are some less favorable areas of town if you get far enough south, but the northside is really nice and downtown is nice also. the only way you would get in any trouble there is doing something that would get you in trouble anywhere (big mouth..etc...) i lived there for almost 2 years and managed to avoid too much conflict. i encourage everyone to go and check it out, i'm going to try and make it since that's my old area.

well i can't do much to help that, but any non-idiot will have no problem getting along/around in chicago. the public transportation is pretty good, and that's a great time of year to be there, navy pier should be pretty busy preparing for the taste of chicago and the 4th of july, so lots of stuff is going on then.
