I'm still happy with my sub 3 times. 2.76 is my best.
I did mess up once and it almost destroyed my Master Magic and it hasn't moved the same since. D:

You can do a similar method on a normal Master Magic, but it's a little unweildy and thus not quite as fast. I'm not sure what it's called, but it goes something like this:
1) With your left hand, bring the bottom left panel right and up; with your right hand, bring the top right panel left and down [I'm not totally sure about this, it could be right/down and left/up]. Pull to straighten out the Magic.
2) With your right hand, do a clockwise twist transform with the right four tiles, then unfold those four tiles down and flip the puzzle over (along a left-right axis).
3) Do two six-flip transforms, one with each hand.

Aaah, I didn't know the speedy guys were using alex's solution. That's pretty cool.

I doubt it because it makes new moves possible and others impossible.

They're produced by Rubik's Studio that way. Thus you'd have a hard time justifying a ban. Also, what kind of new moves does it allow? I don't think so.

Last night at the meet up, I was discussing this and I was shown Oom's method. (By Alexander himself). The stringing used is completely legal as it is the original stringing by Studio. the MM WR was broke today at 2.02 seconds.

Yeah, Ooms's solution is very fast with the reversed stringing. I'm surprised about 2.02, though - I expected it to be closer to 1.8x.
