Tell me about it!

You're basically where I'm at, only faster! Bah! I think I just have slow hands..

It seems like you just need to finish those algs and find little things that'll shave of seconds. I didn't notice any problems with recognition or anything.

That's my mindset exactly, hah. I have the OLL and PLL sheets right here under my keyboard. They have been there for about... 3 months? Haven't looked at them once. I probably should, I always have so much free time, but I'm just too lazy to actually try and memorize any new algs right now. Senioritis... almost out of high school, few more months, its procrastination at its best.

[edit To Kyle]

It probably doesnt take that long, but I'm just extremely lazy.

I think a proper education is more important that memorising algorithms to the cube.

But that's just me.

well...sometimes I get a ton of HW on one day and none on the next. I am
only in middle school and I always have had problems with HW.

thats pretty good, you should have just made a paint drawing tho :P

as for that vid, it's faster than me, so good job! i'm learning OLL right now, PLL took like 2 weeks because i have a life (unlike Kyle) and school work is important to me... Plus skateboarding is fun too :D

My advice is teach me to solve liek that. Have you reached a sub 20 yet. All i know is that i was 16 seconds away from a sub one minute.

lol, I still don't know all OLL cases. I still have about 5 to learn now. But a month or 2 ago I was sub-15 too and still had to lear 12 :P

sub 15? holy crap, thats insane!

Anyways, i don't know many OLL's, i still have a whole pile to learn. OLL isn't nearly as necessary to learn as PLL tho, so i'm working on finding faster PLL's... a 4 second PLL can really ruin a otherwise good time :(

Wait... you still don't know all the OLL? And you're sub-15? That's both impressive and odd. I personally can't imagine being sub-15 (although I know all Fridrich algorithms), but I know that some of that is the cube (there's a significant amount of resistance on my cube, but I can do almost all PLL in under 3.5 seconds) and some of that is practice (I've only been using full Fridrich for about two months).

Well, in the end I knew exactly which case I would get after orienting the edges so it was more like a too long algorithm instead of 2 different algo's + recognition time...

I see what you mean. It's like planning your OLL while inserting the last F2L pair (although I don't know if anyone does that).

Can you give any tips for going from a 24 second average to a 14 second average?

I do that, it's a really useful trick. I mostly just look to see how my edges are going to end up, because then i can recognize if it's an OLL that i know or not, and if it's not then i know which alg to do to form the cross.

Well, Harris Chan got a 10.46 average with Fridrich. And 3-look is no more than ~2 seconds slower than 2-look so even sub-13 should be possible without full OLL.

The moral of the story is, OLL can be a waste of time, unless you don't know those cases where it's gonna end up being a 4 look LL.... Or if you can't OLL fast, then that can also be a problem...

yeah i think oll is an extra cherry on top and totally not necessary to achieve good times. f2l drilling over and over and over is the key, if you have a sub 10 f2l, it doesn't matter how many looks ur last layer is, you will get good times.

I have a hard enough time getting sub-20 F2Ls...
