A speed cuber appears in a commercial on cable in the US. Does anyone know who this cuber is?

Yeah, I saw it, though I didn't recognize the guy. And yeah, it was the last bit of a blind solve. I think it was for a car comercial or something.

I saw the whole video on youtube. I think it was a fake or something strange where he knew every position, because he solved the whole cube blindfolded, including memorization, in about 54 seconds or something. And also, he wasn't using a BLD method, he was just using a regular frindrich solution, so it had to be some sort of a fake.

Any chance of getting the link to this YouTube video?
I've heard about the commercial but don't watch too much TV, so theres pretty much no chance of catching it unless streaming through the internet, hah.
I just think its amusing to see the use of Rubik's cubes in the media nowadays. Between Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness, the PS3 commercial, and this supposed car commercial, it seems like they are coming back full throtle. The local stores seem to be selling out a lot more often, anyone know if sales actually have increased with Rubik's products since these events?

It was a commercial for Hyundai.
And I think it's fake. Practiced scramble?

That was really fast!! If in the discription he is talking about himself it was
probibly real unless he was just trying to give himself others credit.

I really doubt this is real.
And I for one, really dislike all the attention. The rubik's cube has turned into every corporation's new target for extra profit. It'll be raped of it's value and left behind as soon as there's no mystery left.

The point of the commercial was to show someone solving a rubiks cube blindfolded extremely fast linking that to intelligence. By showing him scramble it, look at it, then solve it, the commercial is trying to portray that it took him just as long as that commercial to solve it, so not assuming he memorized it for hours prior. Yes, he did because if he didn't, then it definitely would be a world record.
Of course it is fake, there is no doubting that, but would you expect anything less? Most commercials are 60 seconds or less, and knowing that the world record is longer than that, they had to cheat a bit.

He then spends time finding the fastest way to get the F2L, then the OLL in one step, and PLL in one step, looking for minimal moves. Then memorizes all of that, and then turns on the camera.
What I'm really saying, there is no way that could have been a random scramble, and he has the whole thing memorized in under 10 seconds, looking ahead to the very end. It's a fake BLD. Not a fake solve.

I asked him myself. As rxdeath said, he's usually on the chatroom. He memorized the solve with his eyes open.
In a related story, someone put a comment on his youtube user page saying that the person in the video was the commenter's cousin in San Francisco, but failed to explain why someone is speaking Swedish in the background.
