don't worry, my new PB is 6.14... i've been setting new times to put on the UWR page, i actually think that with enough practice i can be the second or third best on that page... maybe someday i'll beat Johannes? that would be sweet, lol :D

I know, thats why i said "maybe". But believe me, i will beat FireWezul eventually, i refuse to lose to him!!!!

I would be a lot faster if i would stop gripping it the wrong way and messed up the part of the ball that i've already built, lol.

I just have to say... sub-2 is insane. You'll need a lot of practice to get to sub-2 even after you've gotten very fast. For example, my best time is 3.20, but I can't see myself getting sub-2 any time soon.

thats the whole point of a dexterity puzzle though: practice. I just worked out how to do the first couple of moves with my left hand, which will cut down my times once i really get used to it. I just try to work out ways to do my moves better, i really need to work on my last few moves right now...

Exactly. It just takes a lot of practice. Same thing with Magic puzzles; you really have to be both patient and sort of obsessed if you want to be insanely fast.

i don't think i could tolerate magics though, because i would end up breaking strings all the time, and not have the money/effort to constantly fix them :D

This may be a dumb question, but where can I find out how to make it into a ball? Or what is the quickest way to do this? Thanks

Twist is the new name, but almost everybody still calls it snake. But it's the same thing.

does anyone know why they decided to rename it? I personally prefer to call it the snake, twist doesn't sound as cool.

Because its comes in the shape of a snake and they dont tell people your supposed to get it into a sphere. they just tell you to make it into different animal shapes. I think that is just un-rubik's like. lousy marketing.

I'm thinking of getting a snake, but I only will if I can find it locally. Is there any chain toy stores carrying them or anything?

My better one was bought from a toy store many years ago, haven't seen any since then. Except the horrible keychain version of course...

Did you say Rubik's Twist or Rubik's Snake?

I just thought about it, and I think I would have accidentally said Snake, since that's all I really know it as...and therefore, they wouldn't have any idea what I am talking about.

I made sure to be correct and up to date, and i said "twist". I asked some other people for the snake though, and they knew that i was talking about, as they described the puzzle for me. They also said they didn't have it :(

yeah, that feeling really sucks :(

the best bet would be to get on the net and buy yourself one. If you buy from toysrus, then you have to sign up with google or something like that to buy it, which takes 10 dollars off your first purchase :D

i got my snake for 7 dollars, and that is with shipping :D

Why would you have to 'sign-up' with google (and for what?) to buy from toysrus?

i am 100% not sure... there was some sort of sign up screen, and i'm almost positive it had something to do with google... either way, it saved 10 bucks, so it was rather spiffy :D

Damn! Because of a recent Ebay/paypal scam, my parents refuse to make online transactions for a good while (I don't really blame them, but it kinda sucks..).

Get a good friend who trusts you to do the paypal/ebay deal for you. You pay him/her cash. Easy ;-)

Am I catching up yet? :D

lol yeah, and no to answer you question... I haven't gotten one, but at the moment snake isn't my priority as I am trying to learn several new things on the 3x3x3 that should make me much faster, but as you can read on my "Getting It Back..." thread, there's been some problems with myself and mr. cube

Try to train your Snake and your fingers to make two or four turns at once. That's how I got sub-4.

Hi :)

Make small internal dents so that each links "knows" which way it will turn. Now you basically squeeze the snake into a ball

Just kidding! Wish it might work though

What I do is grab a piece and the piece four away from it (for example piece 5 and piece 9), and then sort of push them together with a little twist so that I get four correct turns out of it (this took quite a few tries to get my Snake to do this). When you can do that the whole thing is only 6-8 steps, which makes it a lot faster overall.

Yeah, i really need to work on multi tasking with it... going slow isn't that hard, but once I try for speed i seem to mess up. I guess I just need to figure out when to do things...

One of my friends bought it for me as B-day gift thinking I had every puzzle that existed, haha. My PB on the snake is 16 seconds, but have practiced too much yet.

I'm thinking of getting a snake, but I only will if I can find it locally. Is there any chain toy stores carrying them or anything?
I have a specialty toy store ( ithink) in my mall called games by james. They have 2x2-5x5 and the twist! They are really on top of things

I don't think that what the one that was in my mall was called but it had the same stuff... I loved it; thats where I got my 4x4x4 and planned to get my 2x2x2 and a 5x5x5 (still havent gotten) but sadly after only like 3 months in business the store closed or moved out of the mall.... idk which, but it doesn't really matter because I never go out lol

I just found out that the Galleria (a little more than an hour away from me) Mall MIGHT have a discovery channel store.

I'll check it out...
