Though, if you're just interested in your ranks, it's best to view your personal page (I guess you must've seen it already but I'll show it anyway):

Aye, I noticed that earlier, nice feature Stefan :)

(I am aware that my rank is 325 overall, 265 is just my 2006 ranking.)

Others took this to a new level and came up with a lot of funny searches, see this thread:

Of course I couldn't know, but yes, I was guessing correctly.

I had actually envisioned the same thing, just different. Offering people an interface to include that table of personal records somewhere else. Just not as a picture. I was thinking of offering finished HTML code for simple use in iframes or maybe javascript (don't know it well enough) as well as XML for people who want to go further and use their own design.

So naturally I was expecting you to do something like this, though I did tell myself I shouldn't be so narrow-minded and hope for something different.

I was pretty sure though anything you did would be easier for me since you can only build on top of my interface while I have direct access to the underlying database. I would've appreciated cooperation, for example specified XML of just that table would've probably been easier and more robust for you to work with and it would've been less wasteful (concerning server resources) as well.

I actually envision something much bigger, but it'll take more time and I need to talk with some people first.

i didnt want to start a new thread but wanted to post about my times at the latest competition. i succeeded in getting my first sub-20 solves at the caltech Winter 2007 event. 19.53 single and 21.69 average. this has been my goal for 3 years now. my average was 2 seconds faster as well. you can see my times at speedcubing.com if you want. my goal now is sub-20 average.

Sorry to drag up and old thread, but I have a query about the rankings.
I don't know who will be able to answer this, but I hope Stefan may be able to.

Do the rankings get updated every competition?

Yes.

Here is the procedure:
- a few days before a competition I send the competition organisers a list with names, countries and member ids of all WCA members.
We need these ids to make sure that people are not twice on the list (like Michael/Mike or Pochmann/Pochman)

- normally I receive an Excel sheet with the competition results within a few hours after the competition. After checking the results in Excel, I use some scripts to add all results to the database.

- then I check the results with some extra tools (incorrect names/ids, incorrect results like 2 results for best of 3 rounds, calculated averages incorrect).

- after this I check the results with a tool for regional records: NR, AsR, WR et cetera.

- if all is OK, I run the script that generates the helper tables for the rankings.

- only the Statistics page is (automatically) updated each day, because it contains some statistics that need that

All these tools (except for the competition sheet and the script to insert all results into the database) and all pages were written by Stefan Pochmann.

Have fun,

Ron
