This is my most recent vid - it was a 31.51 solve - I was trying to focus on the whole "going slow" aspect. There are still delays between "pillars" in the F2L but I wanted to really focus on taking my time. It's VERY interesting to me though how fast a "slow" solve can go.
It's almost like learning piano or another instrument where you practice slow for accuracy, NOT speed and then speed comes with time. Very fascinating topic. I guess the other thing to remember is to make sure you stay relaxed as well - too many people forget that
Anyway - suggestions please!

there still seems to be a lot of pauses, but you just need to practise lots to stop that, but anyway, looking good for a sub 30 average soon.

Agreed - I've found that I'm slowly becoming way more comfortable with the F2L algs (intuitive) now that I know what I'm doing. My biggest issue is finding edges when they're hidden elsewhere in the cube *IE: Not on top*
I'm still working out the pauses, but after watching the video, I can see that as long as I keep consistant, I should be able to get 20-25 second solves easy enough. It's just getting rid of those pauses!
Thanks for the feedback

this works for me, try tilting the cube as you perform algs and search for the edges that way.

i do cross on left and found that for finding pieces this works great. also whole cube turns are reduced to a simple l or l' instead of cumbersome y/y' d/d' also if you think about it you shouldn't really need to look at the back, if you can see just the facelet on L or R from BR and BL then you should be able to tell which one you want, very rarely will you have to actually look on B for it. also try and use more double layer turns i see you switching a lot between hands, causing regrip pauses..remember that L' can also be done as r' with an x. optimizing my algs/moves for one hand made a big difference in my solving times.

wow, you can really tell that you are taking your time in the solve, just from how untense you are. i'll have to try really taking my time.
oh, and two questions.
one, where can i get a timer like that and how much does it cost? it has to be better than my wristwatch (with a stopwatch built in)
two, what was the edge alg you used? it looked like you had to swap two adjacent edges on each side of the cube, right? i've just never thought of doing that alg with middle layer twists.

http://www.speedstacks.com is where you can get those timers, i think they have xmas specials right now so its a good time, and if you go to a tourney you're already accustomed to them which is really nice.
the alg was for the Z permutation, not the H as you described (edit: actually you did describe Z, my bad !) and the notation is like this:
M2' U M2' U M' U2 M2' U2 M' U2

About the timer, you can USUALLY find them in Walmart - they have the speedstacking things (sets) and the timer's included as well as the mat, the cups, etc.. for about 59.99 cnd. I ended up ordering mine from here:
http://www.teamskyline.com/index.cfm/fu ... ith%20Mat/
They have decent prices and they're canadian so it was less for me in terms of shipping, etc.
As for that algorithm - rxdeath got it right - it's easier for me to do honestly than the other one. I really like the M turns, and I find it REALLY fast when you use a good cube. *Which is the hard part: getting an awesome cube*

yeah i've heard lately that target/walmart and some other stores have them available, however they don't have the data port to connect to larger timers, if this isn't an issue for you then you could save some $ there, otherwise if you want the ability to hook up to large displays i think you have to hit the website.
i used that alg until i switched to the dan knights z works better - its ultra fast and looks super cool , isave the M' for the H perms
x' F R U' R' U D R 'D U' R' U R D2.

Just tried your Perm on a solved cube - doesn't do much lol
check again?
"(x') R U' R' U D R' D U' R' U R D2' F (x)"
Is this what you meant?

I remember this way..
E = Equator
M = Meridian (prime Meridian)
S = The other one

lol, it's great that you don't care about it, but what is S?
E is the middle horizontal
M is the verticle middle...
S is... WTF?

M is between the layers L and R (clockwise or counter-clockwise is the same as L)
E is between the layers U and D (clockwise or counter-clockwise is the same as D)
S is between the layers F and B (clockwise or counterclockwise is the same as F)

I NEVER use it, same as I never use E, infact I don't use M, I do r R' or r' R.

S actually isn't all that evil, just like any other movement it can be practiced and used well. i know my D's and B's weren't always the greatest but as i forced myself to use them they became easier. a good example of a great place to use S/S' is the edge 3 cycle. R2 U' S' U2 S U R2 (half the length of the 2-gen most people use). using ur thumb to push or pull and my pointer and ring on the opposite side to stabalize. i think matt walter does his edges like this and its very fast. i've seen some pretty neat f2l tricks involving E ring as well (ask ryan patricio because i have no idea what he does, but there is definately E's in there). M's are super fun and fast, i use it for some oll/pll's and some cross stuff.

Don't you mean R2 U' S' U2 S U' R2?
I would just use F2 U' M' U2 M U' F2 if I wanted face turns.
But I really use M2 U M U2 M' U M2
