Hmmmm looks like not that great of a cube, anyone have one? I am thinking of picking one up...

Blah, don't bother. They have rivets in the centers so you can't adjust the tension, the plastic is usually pretty gritty... and overall it's just bad.
If you didn't mind waiting for shipping, I'd recommend either a DIY (do it yourself) from rubiks.com, a DIY from a couple of the sellers here on the site itself (if you have Paypal or other means of payment) and also make sure you get tiles from Cubesmith as well. (the default ones peel like crazy)

i agree with enigmahack because i am using a wal*mart cube as we speak lmao.

i had to put in marker for the blue and green sides where the stickers peeled off.

orange is starting to come off now.

they're really tight and dont turn well, and they all around suck.

i have to make do with it though, but im doing exactly what enigmahack recommended. im ordering a DIY cube from one of the sellers on this site and im ordering tiles from cubesmith

I personally don't mind them at all. The only problem is that they're hit and miss. Sometimes you get one that almost doesn't need lubed right out of the box. Other times you have to sand down the insides before you can move it.
They're not the best I know, but you can make them work extremely well.

Well, I just went to Wal-mart on Friday, because I needed something that would work until I got my DIY's from the user Rubik on these boards (2-4 weeks shipping). When I was in the store, my friend and I gently removed several cubes from the packaging and tested them out, some were very stiff, but then I found a really nice one (I didn't damage the packaging at all, just opened the side up and pulled it out, then put it in when I was done). It turns great and I just lubed up it making it even nicer. We shall see how it turns out over time. So basically you can find a nice Wal-mart cube if you're lucky.

I have a Walmart cube. I think they are fine, especially since you can get them pretty quickly, and the price is resonable. As of yet, I haven't worried about adjusting the tension, so the rivets don't bother me. They are however extremely stiff out of the box. Once you solve it a hundred or so times, it turns well. I just keep mine lubed up, and it works well for me.

yeah, i too am using a walmart cube... that i got from toys r us, lmao.


acually, my best friend got it for my b day, it's the third cube i've ever had, and the first one i lubed and got new tiles for because i got serious about speedcubing.

judging by my PB times, it is possible to get sortof fast with them, altho i plan on buying a DIY when this one wears out (once my cubesmith tiles wear down, i'm definately getting a better cube)
