I got my sister into cubing somehow, which is pretty cool because she never likes anything I do. Enough to make her want to get her own cube.
To make a long story short, we got her one, and she got lucky, and hers is super loose and slides like a god. The one I got is super tight and sucks balls. I was like "wtf "

lol, i'm trying to get my brother into cubing. he wants to learn to solve a 2x2x2, which i know he won't be able to do becuase not even i can do it, and i have a general idea of how colors and pieces move around lol.
now, it's only going to suck really really bad when she gets faster than you with your own cube

Dude, a 2x2 is only the corners of a 3x3. If you can slove a 3, you can solve a 2.

yeah, but cubies move around differently than they do on a 2x2. it's alot easier to scramble a 2 while trying to solve it than it is a 3.

because in a 3x3 you can use the third layer as "working space" on a 2x2, i can't do this, and i have trouble solving the last layer
also note that i know no algs for it, i only do intuitive stuff.

Umm, the corners of a 3x3 are a 2x2.
instead of using the third layer as working space, you just use the second layer for the same thing and skip all the steps that only have to do with edges.
Look at some of the corners only mods that have been made. If you think of the cube like that, hopefully it'll make it easier for you.

I don't understand what the problem is.
Consider this: Take your 3x3, and remove the stickers from all the edges and all the centres. This leaves only stickers on the corners. You should easily be able to solve this, and this is exactly the same puzzle as the 2x2 cube. The only thing that is slightly confusing is that you don't have centres, so you have to make a choice of top/front colours and stick to it while you are solving.

hmmm... you do have a point there, i never tried looking at it like that.. and it would be the same, because you would only be moving the outer layers...
darnit, where is that online 2x2???

dude, thank you sooo much!!!!
i just sat down with my cube, and worked on solving just the corners. i realized that i can put first layer corners in place like i used to in the beginner method, and i can use normal last layer algs to fix upper layer corners!!!! i would like to thank you so much for showing me the way!!!!
lol i don't feel like such a noob anymore!

using the GabbaSoft Cube program, which is like amazing.
i find one problem with solving the 2x2.
somtimes u get the FL, and then 2 cubies of the LL permuated, (in the right place) but you have to switch two of the cubies. like 2 are good, and two are not. and that doesn't happen on the 3x3 for some reason i dont know. so i have to use the puzzlesolver.com or w/e 2x2 solution alg to solve the 2x2 other than that i can solve it on my own.

two corners can be swapped on a 3x3x3 as well but two edges must also swap to preserve parity.
e.g. RU2R'U'RU2 L'UR'U'L

i think i saw that problem before...
rotate your top layer till 2 adjacent corners are correct, and the other two need swapping. i then swap them, and orient them.
then again, i kindof do a begginnerish method on it... oh well, lol.
