For everyone on the west coast of the US, or not in the US or Canada completely disregard this post. For eastern US and Canadians only! lol

Alot of people on the east coast cannot afford to goto as many tournaments as would like, unlike west coast cubers who have the Caltech tourneys, San Fransisco tourneys, and even Nationals for christs sake. I propose we start an eastern cubing schedule. 4 tournaments a year. Tournaments will be held in New England, RI, Penn., NY, or Eastern Canada (east of Toronto). Obviously everyone else is welcome

If you've got a name that you think would be good for the speedcubing group, post it here. and we can have a vote on them at the end of the week. Then i'll go make a domain name for it and start planning the first tournament. :) I've already hosted one tournament (with peter greenwood) and i loved it.

Here are my ideas, but im horribly uncreative, so lets here some of your ideas.

Eastern Speedcubing Group
North East Speedcubing

I live in NS (Nova Scotia) which is just north-east of Maine - I'm game for it too!

I think Eastern Speedcubing Commision has a nice ring to it, and it's posted on EVERY MS KEYBOARD EVER MADE lol

We're in the top left corner :-)

ESC??
Just an idea! lol

I'm in the east (NC) but not north-east so not sure if I could go to one.

The S.Y.C has a nice ring to it: Speedcubing Yankee's Club! :P (kidding of course) How about the E.C.P.: East Coast Puzzlers? Anyway, great idea! Bob Burton's Rutger competitions have been nice and close to me, but unfortunately, he always has them when I'm away at college. So we need more summer competitions.

But Toby's American and Anssi's Finnish...How could Anssi be on team USA?

Annnnnnyway...sounds good to me...But a quick comment: If you're talking about East Coast contests, there was Chatahooche, Rutgers, Trumbull, Draughons (well, kinda East Coast), G-Wiz, and Rutgers coming up. That's 5 or 6 (depending on if Draughons is East Coast). So 4 per year is already happening. If you're talking northeast, then yeah, only 3 this year. I'd love to contribute to that number for '07, but I can't commit to anything yet.

Anyways, see y'all at Rutgers.

We are talking more or less the north eastern area. Penn. to canada, east of toronto.

Also, Rutgers is bi-yearly, yes. As for Trumbull, I hosted that one with Peter, and we may or may not host another one. Draughons and G-Wiz aren't really in the target area, and are difficult for alot of people to get to. And i have no idea about the other one you listed, i have never heard about it.

Again, not really in the "target area" (Georgia). I was just commenting that, if you're talking about East Coast cubers, that includes southeast as well. It may be difficult for you or me to get to G-Wiz or Draughons, but for someone like Pelley, Hardwick, etc. it would be difficult to get to Rutgers or Trumbull. And they're east coast as well.

Anyway, I'd love to have more contests up here. It would give me more motivation to keep cubing (time is a serious factor right now, and I don't have much of it).
