I got a Rubik's snake today, actually less than two hours ago, and I took an average and got 20 seconds. I know that's horrible, but it seems my snake is 'breaking in' so to speak, but is there any way to speed it up? Any hints?

I found I dropped from 60 seconds to sub-10 VERY fast...Just get your hands used to doing the motions...I think Johannes just practices it too much...so...He also has a really loose snake, and a very good method, that even when he does it slow it looks like he does it faster then the next fastest on UWR...

Have you seen his 2.67 second solve? It's like it melts into shape

It was 2.57, actually. But it was some 6-7 months ago, now I could average around that. The end looks a little slow, my method is a bit different now so I can do it faster. When I get a good camera I'll make a sub-2 video. Craig is right, I practise too much...

I've just used my snake a lot, so I don't know if there's a good way to make it looser. Just practice practice practice... Slowly it will break in.

I hope that helps :). The most important thing is to use thumbs a lot to make several twists at a time, if you know what I mean. I only need to regrip twice.

Another video...

I pulled an all nighter to help readjust my sleep schedule for this upcoming school year, and I just practiced the snake while watching TV all night. My left thumb is particularly sore, but I've developed a method and am around 8-10 seconds now. :D

yeah their not working. I average around 5 seconds. and my record is like 4-ish. it only took me a week to get that fast but I don't practice that very often.

xcool: that's awesome! :D Sub-10 average in one day, that's really good. Just continue practising and you'll get sub-5 soon. :)

Hmm, the video links should work... Well, another one: http://www.mysharefile.com/v/2883787/sn ... w.avi.html

I found a nice modification to my method yesterday, now I need to regrip only once. I got a 1.82, and I believe sub-1.5 is possible. Everybody seems to stop after getting sub-5. :(

Thanks for the compliment. :D It means a lot coming from the world record holder.

That link isn't letting me download it. I click it and it just refreshes it's page. Why don't you try Strangepuzzle, Youtube or Rapidshare.de? :)

Strangepuzzle is for speedslving and Youtube requires registration I think. I'll try rapidshare then. :) http://rapidshare.de/files/31049310/snake_slow.avi.html

But those other sites work well for me, too...
