what constitutes a mixed up state? how many moves does it take to qualify it in that state?

what would you consider the perfect mixed up state? do you find it more challenging to solve it that takes a lot of moves? (i like doing this to keep my memory in tact - especially with the 4x4x4 with more parity moves) or do you just find that your challenge is to find that fewest moves from any mixed up state?


this applies to any 3x3x3, 4x4x4, or 5x5x5.

Here are indications for the number of moves to scramble. 3x3x3 cube: 25 moves, 4x4x4 cube: 40 moves, 5x5x5 cube: 60 moves, MegaMinx: 60 moves, Square-1: 40 moves, 2x2x2 cube: 25 moves, other puzzles: twice the maximum depth of the puzzle.

I usually add a couple more twists on top of that number especially with the 5x5x5 to make sure I didn't do a few defeating moves.

yeah whenever i mix my puzzles up, i'll keep going until i feel that it's completly mixed up. never really kept a tally of how many moves though.
