hello

If you buy Calvins Cross Cube and I-3x3x4' you can make the whole series thus saving money. Question: Is it possible to buy the Super Cross cube and the Super icube and make all 14 puzzles?

I have a Super 3x3x5 and a super x-cube heading my way so that I can interchange and make the whole super range. but as the puzzles solve the same way essentially I have decided eventually I am going to superglue all of he inner circle pieces to their outer pieces and make the entire Non-super range as I believe these solve much more uniquely to each other.

There is no such thing as the Super cross cube, do you mean the Super X-cube? If you get the super X-cube and the super 3x3x5 you will have all the pieces required to make the entire super series.

You can technically make the entire series, but the problem is, they will have circles on the non baby face sides. If you can train yourself to never spin a circle, you can solve them like the original version, however it would be easy to accidentally move one I think.

Marty I did watch your video when you unboxed these, how did the Crazy Planet centres from shapeways work out?

Well, they work, up to a point. You can create 0 and 1 faces just fine, however you can't make 3 adjacent 0 faces, the way the shapeways pieces attach to the core, they are in the way of each other, you can fit 4 pieces, but they all have to be to pairs which are opposite to be able to fit.

However it's still not as interesting as I was imagining, but that is to a large extent down to my own stupidity

It's obvious when you think about it, but in shape-shifted form, you don't get the bandaging that you get on the regular cuboid series puzzles., because the baby-face pieces and the inner circle pieces still form complete circles when mixed, and can therefore still turn.

You could of course try to make sure you only turn them as if they were bandaged, which is what I did, only turning a baby face if it was complete, but that is easier said than done, it is very easy to turn them accidentally, especially with the somewhat poor turning quality of these coloured plastic versions.

Thanks Marty. This saves quite a bit of money.
