I have tried every solution I can think of to solve the rex cube but I still can't solve it. Please help. :scrambled:

For the Rex Cube you can solve it like a Face Turning Octahedron. Solve the center pieces first (the corners of the FTO), then the petal like parts of the puzzle (the centers of the FTO), and then finally the edges.

I have a good, working solution for the Rex cube, which involves edges=>centers(corners? the triangle pieces)=>face centers. It's based off of my FTO method (not the conventional corner=>center=>edge) which works fine for me. I was just going to make a walkthrough solve video, so I'll post it when I'm done (:

Basically, you solve edges like a Dino cube. It's good to remember the color scheme, so you don't get parody later and have to resolve the whole thing. you then solve the triangle-pieces, starting from one corner. It's hard to explain, I will show in the video. Then you solve the face-centers using a form of u r u' l' u r' u' l . Because most of my solutions use intuition more than algorithms, it's extremely hard to project to other people. I'll upload the video whenever I finish solving the Rex cube! xD

I encountered a state of parity while journeying through this treacherous puzzle. I don't know if I'll make it. If I can't get out of this state of parity I may have to journey back to the beginning and find a different route. Hopefully I'll find some way to get through. So close yet now so far... :( :scrambled:

Here's my solution. It's fairly simple as it uses only a few different sequences.

For this solution, I assigned the following letters to the corners:

The cube is oriented so that one corner is in front
F: front top corner
f: front bottom corner
L: left top corner
l: left bottom corner
R: right top corner
r: right bottom corner
B: back top corner
b: back bottom corner

These are the relevant sequences:
- Sequence S1: R L' R' L
- Sequence S2: B R B' L' B R' B' L (this is basically S1 with turns on B between turns)
- Sequence S3: B S2 B' (this is S2 with a turn on B before and after)

Solution:
Step 1: Solve Edges: like a Dino Cube (remember the color scheme your cube uses)


Step 2: Solve Wedges:
The easiest way is to pair up wedges into diagonals by swapping 2 wedges at the time, and then swap the diagonals around to the right faces.
- Case 1: swap two wedges: S3

Step 3: Solve Centers:
- Use (S2)(S2) to swap the three centers on top, back left and back right faces


Edit: Possible parity case:
- if you end up with the entire cube solved except for 2 centers that are swapped, then the color scheme is incorrect. It's important to remember what color scheme your cube follows. The one in the picture (downloaded from the internet) I used to describe the solution uses a BOY color scheme. The cube I actually own uses BYO.

I have very recently discovered a sequence that permutes 3 wedges on the Rex Cube without touching anything else. Using roger's notation:

RLHL' R'LH'L

where R means turn R clockwise (if you're looking at R directly), R' means anticlockwise (again looking at R directly), same for L, and H is the diagonal middle slice that lies between L and B, r and f, and F touches its right side. H means push the middle slice up and left (IOW, clockwise if you're looking at R), and H' means push it down and right according to roger's picture (IOW anticlockwise if you're looking at R).

Armed with this sequence, you can solve the edges and face centers first (both of which are quite easy: just use 4-twist commutators), and then fix the wedges independently.

Note also, when using this sequence, that the wedges come in two independent sets: basically, wedges that lie on either diagonal on each face belong to two different orbits and cannot be intermixed. Within each orbit, wedges are always in an even permutation, so if you ever need to swap two wedges, realize that you need to actually cycle 3 wedges, the third of which is the same color as one of the other two.

My method of solving Rex Cube.

Stage 1. Solving the edges.

Let's designate turns of the top corners habitual to us by capital letters F, R, L, B, and turns of the bottom corners - appropriate small letters f, r, l, b. The turns of average layers parallel R and L, - as Ml (are closer to L) and Mr (closer to R). At performance of turns of these average layers we look at a cube at the left.

The next edges Rex Cube at solving always correctly are guided rather friend from the friend. Therefore solve by their usual turns of corners. But it is necessary to remember, that the alternation of colours of sides Rex Cube always should be exact. To not be mistaken, the assembly is best for beginning with white - blue - red corner (on a cube from white plastic instead of a white side - black). The colours these should alternate clockwise. In figure of an edge around of this corner are designated in figures 1, 2, 3.

If we shall disturb an exact arrangement of colours of sides Rex Cube, at the following stage it will be impossible to change by places 2 pieces of the centre.

Stage 2. Solving centers.

The centres are rearranged by 3-cycles with the help of simple algorithms - 3 pieces around of a corner or 3 pieces on "belt".

Stage 3. Solving of "petals" 2 opposite sides.

Visually we examine Rex Cube and we find that side, on which a lot of "petals" is already solve. This side is solved by first with the help of algorithms Alg 1 and Alg 2. Then we solve an opposite side Rex Cube - so more effectively and faster to solve Rex Cube.

Sometimes at solving of these two sides before performance of algorithms and after them, we use intermediate turns.

Stage 4. Solving of "petals" 4 lateral sides.

Solving also is carried out with the help of algorithms Alg 1 and Alg 2, sometimes applying intermediate turns.

THE RESULT - Rex Cube fully solved!


For the even greater efficiency and speed of solving Rex Cube, at performance of intermediate turns we try to rearrange "petals" so that on the places rose at once 2 or 3 pieces.

I can't even solve the edges and I have nowhere to practice the Dino Cube moves...cause I don't won one.

R' F R F' is a commutator which swaps the FL, FR, and RB edges. (when in doubt, resort to a commutation)

I used your alg. and after that I proceeded with roger's really easy to understand method!

Really fun puzzle to solve!

I solve my Rex Cube with only
this
R L' R' L
algorithm.

and variants.

2 wedges + 1 center = 1 ? ( I name it lens)

Put 1 Lens Out and from other side in, so it flipped.

R L' R' L
f' L f L'

flipps the "lens" in front side ( from center to right bottom)

R L' R' L
f' L f L'
r'

exchanges front up left wedge with bottom right down wedge.


Exchanging 2 wedges in picture up

Turn the Rex Cube so as in picture down.

Using the algorithms provided by Roger I'm able to get the Rex Cube into a state where I only have the centres to solve. All my edges and corners are completely colved, but the centre pieces are scrambled. Does anyone know a simple method to get JUST the centres to move?

I recommend CrazyBadCuber's tutorial. I watched it this morning and have since solved it 3 times. This is a puzzle I haven't managed to solve completely since I got it a year back.

Just a little help here: I used roger's solution to almost complete the master skewb, but can't figure out a way to solve the tips. Can someone shed me some light?

Could not agree more with everything you said there. Great tutorial. Once I had the flipping down I was off on my own working on it. Great method.
