With three mixup cubes on the market and countless simulators, I'm sure atleast a few can post in this topic.

When I solve it the first step I do is place all the center pieces in the correct location relative to each other. Next I rotate the edges to bring it back to a cube. This sometimes swaps centers with eachother so I have to go back and fix them.

At this point it is now just a 3x3x3, except for parity! I figured out how to solve it if one edge is rotated 90 degrees when everything else is solved but if two corners are swaped I rescramble it a bit and try again.

So, how do you solve the mixup cube?

I ordered the parts for a mini mixup from puzzlemaster, but I haven't assembled it yet. I'm afraid of gluing something that shouldn't be glued when I build it on the Eastsheen mini.

I've given it some careful thought, and basically deduced that the puzzle could mostly be solved by super 3x3x3 algorithms. First it is necessary to position the centers, which should not be terribly hard to do, then orient all of the edges to multiples of 180 degrees. To rotate the edges 90 degrees, simply perform a 45 degree slice turn, and use some super 3x3x3 center rotation algs to fix them. That should be easy, since the centers themselves have no orientation. Next, solve as a rubik's cube. For the monoflipped edge parity, algs exists for a half-rotation of a single center, so again not a problem.

As for the "two corners or edges are swapped" parity, that is beyond me. A 45 degree turn of the center slice does an 8-cycle, resulting in an odd parity of the edge/center pieces. I suspect that would be a nasty parity to fix.

If two edges are swapped.
Do this.

Thank you for that parity help. When I'm lucky and don't get it my time is about 6 minutes. For the parity when one edge is rotated 180 degrees I rotate it on top so it is a center and make sure a center is on the center right. UR'URUR'UR... until it is fixed. What are your best times?

My average time is about 380 sec.
My best time is 201 sec.
