I cannot believe I am the first person posting this but I can't find it any where. I will apologise in advance because I assume I just missed it. During Melbourne Summer Open 2011 Feliks Zemdegs once again broke a number of world records- Rubik's Cube single- 6.65 Rubik's Cube average- 7.87 5x5x5 single- 1.01.59 5x5x5 average- 1.07.01 6x6x6 single- 2.05.88 6x6x6 avearge- 2.15.64 4x4x4 blindfold single- 3.37.80 I have updated my Speedcubing video page to show some of the new records- http://www.best-video-clips-ever.com/ru ... ubing.html

No one posts about it because everyone expects it. Feliks is annoyingly fast. End of.
It will be my mission to beat his average before the end of 2013.

So I watched a video of this guy on youtube about two minutes ago. He is like a Rubik's robot. Super impressive. I cant believe how fast he is! His fingers must have six packs.

I saw the video yesterday. It is unbelievable how fast Felix is and it looks just like a normal job for him. Everytime I think it can't be faster than the new WR, but with him we can expect a lot more world records on cubing.

Oh, I don't think Feliks broke the 4x4x4 blindfold world record. The video was a joke of someone else next to him who took several minutes of memorising.

I think it's time to have a world-record-excluding-Feliks list. And WCA should ban him, just because he's too good at everything...........

Hmm... I guess in the video I was distracted by the guy who the camera was pointed at. Silly me!

More than anything, I want to see someone film him solving a cube up close with a slow-motion camera.

Slow-motion video of the 6.65s solve: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G__C8xDaWXINot a slow-motion camera, but the video is good enough. You can see he hesitated a little bit at around 3:00, when he was doing f2l.

Thanks! But still, I'd like to see a better quality up-close high-speed vid some day. (Not necessarily of a WR solve! ) I want to see just how the GuHong is able to handle the speed.

It usually takes me longer than that to decide what my first move will be.

I'd love to see how fast he would be for a true solve without inspection time.

Somehow I missed these records (and this topic) when they were first put up. He holds 11/33 world records now, counting singles and averages as separate records - that's one third! Kelvin Stott wrote: ...by which time he'll be down to 5 seconds. He did get 5.72 in this video.

Tony Fisher's Speedcubing rules- Competitor is handed (unseen) cube keeping eyes shut. Competitor starts solve when he opens his eyes. Competitor finishes solve when the puzzle has reached a 100% solved state (no part turns short of solved state allowed, past is ok). Highly accurate cameras are used to film solve and work out times.

Highly accurate cameras are used to film solve and work out times. Kelvin's Speedcubing rules- Competitor is handed cube and is allowed to study it for days using powerful computer algorithms. Competitor spends days setting up a complex network of strings attached to individual cubies. Competitor pulls on all the strings at once to solve the puzzle in one swift tug. Highly accurate camera times how long it takes to pull the strings, starting from the point when the eyes bulge ( ) just before the pull. Part turns are acceptable.

I would imagine sub 10 seconds would still be possible. You would lose a few seconds from inspection, but gain a partial second in not having to stop a timer. -d
