on a fisher cube, is it easier to put the cube back into a cube shape, or is it easier to solve the colors (assuming you do not change the shape)?

A mono coloured Fisher Cube would be easier to solve than a coloured Fisher Cube whilst keeping it's shape. This is because there are very few unique pieces, meaning that they can be swapped with each other without realising. On other puzzles, like the Golden Cube though, having colours would make it easier.
