Ok, so I've liked a girl for some time now. She and I have bonded quite a lot and I'm planning to ask her out in a very unique way. I'm the reason she is able to solve Rubik's Cubes. (3x3x3 only) and she really enjoys it.

My plan is this. To write on my spare 3x3x3 a little note asking her to go out with me. The trick is, it's only readable when the cube is FULLY solved. Just writing on it with a sharpie or something. Now what should I have it say and how should I have it layed out? I know for a fact she uses the method from the booklet that comes with the cube (Cross, First layer, Second layer, OLLE, PLLE, PLLC, OLLC [Green being her first layer]) if that helps at all.

Anyways, any suggestions?

I can't help you with suggestions for you to write down, but I would write it on the blue side, trying to fit it on the edges and corners (not using the center, for easier solved state *I know I would have problem aligning the centers*) and perhaps letting it be written in a circle.
Depending on how much you like to write, you might considder to make it several laps around the center...
I would choose the blue side, since (if she doesn't try to solve the blue first as she sees there is a message) she would have to wait longer for the message and the tension would build...

About the sharpie thing, or what else to use, for writing on the blue side, I would hope there are still paper stickers on the cube (with clear "wrap" over each sticker), and then use a knife to carve cuts of the message and then use a red marker to make the marker ink sink into the cuts, which I believe would make it pretty easy to see there is a message to be seen on the cube when solved...

Good luck man! Hope it works splendid for you! *will keep my fingers crossed* :D

Dont write on the centers, becuase if you do then she'll have to know a "supercube" solution to read the message. Best of luck.

Yea, I already thought about it.

I was thinking on the green face "Keep going. You have to solve the whole thing to get the message."

Around the second layer "Almost there. Keep going."

And on the last layer "Will you go out with me?"

Or something of that nature.

Are you positive that she solves green first? Because your entire thing could be ruined if she changes it up alittle. lol.

There are a couple problems with that setup.

1) it would require a super cube solution, or half the stickers not be written on and it'd look dumb

2) after green, then how do you know which color will be solved next.

3) reading it would be difficult.

Actually... I would suggest that you drop some (Rubic magic) ring inside her glass of wine... :P
(oh wait... it would have to be a huge glass LOL)

Good luck in whatever you try (I am in a similar stage  )

Just speedcube? Or cube in general? If it's the latter, at least you have something to impress them with

@ xcool: I also think you should write the text on the blue side. Try to expand the text over the whole side so that none of it can be read until the cube is completly solved. Perhaps around the edge with not too many letters on each piece, so that finishing just a part of the side does not give out too much information. And good luck :D

What you need to do is have two cubes with writing on them. Make 5 of the faces exactly the same with just some nonsense phrases. Then on one of the cubes on the green faces, have some odd phrase and the question on the other cube. Show her the non question one and solve it for a while, then sneakily switch it out and let her solve.

Dudes !!! :)

The trick is not HOW u ask a girl out. Just that u DO it. It won't have to be in a clever way. In fact doing it too cleverly may well put her off  Well, if u really wanna go along with this don't let me stop u

Good luck!

Between ACTs, SATs and School, I haven't had a chance to see her. We've talked still though.

She goes to a different school district, which also happens to be 30+ miles away But it should happen this or next weekend. I've had the cube made for a while. I don't know why I haven't taken pictures of it yet.

If you're still going to go with the cube idea, you should make a cube that has various phrases on it. And when it's in a solved state, you can do a pre-determined scramble to get the right message to show.

I didn't get an answer yet.

She had to run right after the movie, so I gave the cube to her as she was running off.

No response yet. It's been about 4 hours.

She turned me down on the grounds that I'm not Christian.

Awww. That so totally sucks!
Don't worry though, you will meet plenty of other women as you get older. It only seems to happen when you aren't looking. Yes I know it sounds cliche.

*sigh* when are people going to realize that religion hinders more than it helps?

I'm real sorry to hear that she turned you down....hopefully she'll put her ignorance and stubbornness aside one day and you can take her out!

In this case I have to be of your opinion, but generally I say it depends of how orthodox ones faith is...
I am christian, but I wouldn't turn down a person on those ground, since I don't feel I have to either make everyone christian, or not have with them to do...
I mean, no matter what faith/views you got in life, you have to be openminded and except others as they are!

Sorry to hear that xcool, but think of it like this, she ain't worth you as she can't see beyond your "flaw" (as I guess she views the fact you are not christian)...

We have a saying in Sweden that goes like this:
If you loose one there are a thousand left.

Freedom of religion is established in the Bill Of Rights! How can she deny you for being an american :(.

And Im Atheist because Christianity is Altruism. And I believe in individualism and egoism.

Yes, it also establishes the exercising of religion. The girl is just exercising her religion.

ChrisD wrote:

That's the reason? Because you don't want to help others?

Anyways, in 1 Corinthians, it talks about marriage to non-Christians. I believe she is just following that advice. She doesn't want to date someone that may try to pull her away from her faith.
