Hey all,

So, I go to a music program in NY every summer, and there's a recital every week. The last week is a silly recital for all the counselors (which I was one). Here is a video of me and my friend Tom (who I am attending the Eastman Conservatory with) doing something awfully silly yet intesly difficult (for me at least).

Between the 2 of us, we have a tenor saxophone, a scrambled rubik's cube, and a full bottle of water. The stunt is this. I play one hand of the saxophone, and he plays the other - so the two of us are each playing one half of the saxophone (which is insanely difficult if you know that both hands work intimately with eachother, so splitting them up is difficult). With my other (free) hand, I solve a scrambled 3x3, and with Tom's other hand, he is pouring water into my mouth......all while we both play the Blue Danube Waltz together. Really amusing, I think.

thats great, nice solve. Woke me up a little at 2:30. the stunts I've done are stuff like while doing back to back kickturns in a halfpipe. or while ridding a scooter no handed. just to entertain the kids there pretty funny to see their expresions.

when ever me and my friends are joking about a stunt we always punctuate it with "while juggling 16 flaming chainsaws".

Do a triple backflip of the Eiffel Tower on a unicycle while play the Can Can on a guitar with just your teeth, while juggling 16 flaming chainsaws.

but I have a question........ Why did you decided having drink with your friend's hand? You could have tried other better things no? For example.....what's about eating some sunflower seeds? That must be funny... hahahaha. Or even trying to eat a soup with a spoon....... hahahahah.

But still, the video is so nice! I like it? It's so funny! ehheheeh

he could have feed you cerial and spilled milk everywhere. something I do to wake me up at breakfast is too eat cerial by holding the spoon in my fist. (like a caveman)

The main reason was because we were playing a $6000 Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, and there was a $3400 Yanagisawa S991 soprano saxophone lying on the floor right in front of me. If any liquid (other than a LITTLE water) got on either of those incredible instruments, it would have been very detremental to their value, and would seriously impair their playability.

yeah that would suck. after I read that this is what I thought...

hmm they should make a better saxophone. more durable. skateboards are durable. you can do tricks on a skateboard... a trick sax, yeah with pegs and everything.

This is just me, but of all that you describe above I couldn't do anything but one.

Do you guys know that a diabolo is?
For those of you who doesn't know it is a "trick device" that is made up by two sticks connected with a wire, and on this wire you are supposed to spin an object in the shape of an hourglass.

I once succeded to play with my diabolo while unicycling, and I suppose that with a little training I could substitute the diabolo with a cube.

But I wouldn't do it to show anyone, just to get to know if I can. You see, I can't do nether of the three more than just, so I think it would just look awful as a performance lol

Me I just improvise and try to get my head out of the trojectory (spelling?) of the diabolo

I've solved while riding a unicycle. it takes a while because I need my arms to ballance. and I do like one step then regain ballance.

Can you solve the cube one handed? If you can, you can try cycling, solving the cube with one hand and maintaining your balance with the other. If you can pull it off, it should reduce your time quite substantially.

I'm not to good one handed. it wont help very much but my first time was probably around 50 seconds. I just need to get better on the unicycle.

Uh... OK? Your first time on the unicycle was 50 seconds? Your first time one handed was 50 seconds? Either way, that's pretty freaking impressive. L8r.

Call me dumbass, but when I trained to keep my balance without using my arms to much I unicycled "blindfolded"...
When not seeing where you got it is critical to maintain course, but that is nearly impossible if you wave your arms to regain balance, so I figured I could train myself on both ways if I did it with eyes shut.

If you try this I recomend to start on a parkinglot or some other big flat area and not on a 1,5 meter braod road as I did (got some goodlooking bruises the first times )

thanks I'll try that. the only injury I had on the unicycle was when I was riding across a narrow beam then the beam flipped sideways and I fell on my hands and knees. most of the time I can step off. I don't know about you but I think it's really fun riding in a smooth circle without twisting the wheal on the ground.

Sounds as beams should be oflimit for unicycles



Me to, but as of the incident I mentioned above, it is a bit hard maintaining balance while your are on your way down the ditch...

well, riding with my eyes closed didn't really help I just moved a little slower. I think prcatice helps for me. I was just riding on the road doing all my favorite algs and just getting used to the ballance. thenI could solve the cube no problem. My best time was 21 seconds.
