Hey everyone,
Due to curiosity. i just had to ask everyone! Do you like diet coke? I personally LOVE diet coke, but all my friends hate it and think i'm weird drinking it. My friends say, it tastes bad, it leaves a horrible after taste, and it's unhealthy.
so, here's a poll, Do you like Diet Coke?
-chris joe
oh, if possible, state your reason. thanks

I can drink a bunch of different diet drinks. Dr. Pepper, 7Up, Pepsi. But for Coke, in the words of Brando, "the horror... the horror..." I think maybe Coke is just too salty to come in a sugarless version.
Coca-Cola out of a can is pretty nasty too. I can drink Coke from a fountain or a bottle or even over ice, but if it's straight out of the can my mouth physically reacts to it. Some of the lining of skin on my inner cheeks will peel off. Don't ask me why, and it doesn't happen all the Time, but it has only happened when drinking Coke directly from the can on many occasions.

I don't care for the after taste of most high intensity sweeteners. That and I generally don't like carbonated beverages.
I don't think diet coke is unhealthy for you, although from what I hear in the industry, phosphoric acid when consumed enough can deplete your body of calcium over time. I'm guessing one would have to consume quite a bit to have an effect.

Diet coke is healthier than regular. But that's not saying much...
Give me water any day. Or tea. Or fruit juice (esp. cranberry & raspberry. Yummy!)
Jin; it's the phosphoric acid that's tearing your mouth apart. I have the same problem with cans. Bottles are okay though. I think there is either more phos in the canned stuff, or it reacts with the aluminium. Just a guess.

Sure, I'll drink diet Coke or Pepsi. It's a nice way to drink some water.

I don't care for diet anything at all because of the yucky taste. I keep reading this on the news, the news online and they say diet pop is worst then the original pop. I agree!!!!!

A few years ago a buddy of mine who happens to be a doctor explained the nature of diet drinks to me. Due to the sweetness of diet drinks, they fool the body into thinking that calories are being taken in. However the body then discovers that there are no calories to burn, thus it triggers the "hunger" reaction so as to make the person feel hungry.
This reaction doesn't happen to everybody, and it's also generally not an issue when the diet beverage is taken with food, since the food provides the calories. In that way, a diet drink is no better than a regular drink, however also keep in mind that a regular beverage is typically 140-170 calories of sugar vs. some other less sugary source of calories which might be better for your health. Better to eat a slice of whole wheat bread and a diet than drinking a regular.

When it comes to "healthy" food, It's marketing and the media that dictates the perception of what healthy is. What actually is healthy is a totally different story. Bottom line is ask a reputable doctor or dietician what's right for you. Don't get me started on a rampage.

I like the taste of Diet Coke. Apparently though, aspartame helps cause cancer. Pointless that people say that though, you would need to drink like a gallon a day for effect

I don't like the taste of the artificial sweeteners.
I tried the Coke "C2" when it came out; I thought it would be less sweet.
It seemed sweeter than regular coke, just not sweetened with sugar

I have no use for canned drinks, period. My favorite: Aquafina. The Coca-Cola Company has figured out how to produce the best-tasting water ever!
