A question to any Americans in the forum:
In Britain we have a great culinary tradition of Fish 'n' Chips (french fries). I can't imagine that the US is completely devoid of this greasy delight, but what do you call a Fish Supper on your side of the Atlantic? Fish 'n' Fries, whilst amusingly alliterative, doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Also, I just had sardines on croissants for lunch. I can't say it was entirely disgusting, but I can't, in all honesty, recommend it.

P.S. We call them chips. You call them fries.
We call them crisps. You call them potato chips.
What, pray tell, would I get (apart from a funny look) if I were to ask for crisps??

We call them fish n' chips. It's not all that uncommon to go to a family restaurant and see it as an item on a menu. We here in the US just steal whatever works for us.

Ahhh, but can you get battered Mars Bars? A favourite in my neck of the woods!

Ah, yes the good ol' "Artery Clogger". Now available as deep fried Malteasers (really!), Snickers, etc., in fact just about any chocolate product if you bring your own to the chippy!

At the Minnesota state fair, you can get almost anything deep fried: Snickers bars, Twinkies, Oreo's, corn on the cob.

One time my wife and I went to a restaurant that reopened. It had a very limited menu:

Hamburger and Fries
Cheeseburger and Fries
Mozerella Sticks and Fries
Chicken fingers and Fries
Fish and Chips (which is really just fish and fries).

I thinnk if you ordered "crisps" in America, you would only get stranger look if you did it in an American accent. If you were British and ordered a wallyflop with a side of skid and a bunt, you might get a small strange look, and then asked for clarification.

Yea I have eaten "crisps" before. That's what it sayes on the package any way. We get them all the time from the grocery store on Sunday years ago they have suger and cinnamin on them, flakey and yummey. There in the bakery section of a grocery store.
