Well, that pretty much sums up why I don't watch that show anymore. I enjoy the segments about people trying to hang onto speeding cars and stuff, but the "eating" segments don't do anything for me. They stole that right from Survivor (or wherever Survivor stole it from) when it was something novel to watch someone eat a tarantula, but it doesn't seem to fit in with the "fear" theme at all. Controlling your gag reflex isn't neccesarily something a brave, couragous or even fearless person can do.
As time goes on, I see those segments as more and more shameless and misguided. I'm very surprised they continue to include them.

I can't imagine what I wouldn't try eating for $50k, as long as I could convince myself I wasn't causing any internal damage. $50k buys a lot of puzzles! Or a mortgage downpayment... whichever.

Skill under trying circumstances is fun for adults, eating bugs is fun for kids. I don't think that that which some children do no problem isn't really a matter of adult's fear. Historically some cultures have bugs as a regular source of protein. They really should change the name of the show to "Disgust Factor."

Ahhh, just like the old question:
"Would you pull the wings off a butterfly for $1?, $5?, $10?, a dino?, a mortgage downpayment?'
