Hi Friends!

I need some help from you, if you are interested!

Some of you may know that I have another hobby beside puzzles. It is the Astronomy.
Together with the leader of the Hungarian Astronomical Association's Sun group, we have created a project called in English something like "Big Solargraphy action 2014".

We are about to send out approximately 300 cameras to all over Hungary and track the sun's movement for half year.
It looks that from these 300 cameras some will remain, and we have just thought that we may send them all over the world to those who are interested. Here came you in to view.

What is solargraphy?
It is a photographic method for recording the paths of the Sun.
Solarigraphics or solargraphs are pinhole photographs taken with a lensless pinhole camera with a long exposure. By doing so the invisible movements of the Sun can be made visible in landscapes.

Why we doing it?
There are two reasons:
Scientific: We will be able to have some data from the sunny hours from the site where the camera was placed out.
Art: The created images will be a piece of art, what all our helpers will receive from us.
Bonus: Whit this project we are try to bring some attention to this cheep and interesting photographic technique, and to turn some people toward astronomy.

How it works?
It uses the method of Camera obscure in a small tube. We use PVC tubes as for camera body, laser drilled pinholes as optics, and light sensitive photographic paper (darkroom paper)

When?
The assemble of the cameras are ongoing. They will be finished at early May. After that we will send them out to all our volunteer helpers.
The expo times are very important for us! The cameras must be placed out at the night of 21 of June (Summer solstice) and they must be harvested at the night of 21 of December (winter solstice). This way the cameras will capture the track of the sun from the highest point in the sky till the lowest point.
After this all cameras need to send back to us for processing.

How can you help?
To Hungary we have a sponsor who deliver all the package free, but for abroad we do not have anything like this.
There is two ways how you can take part in this:
- You register at me, and pay for the postal fee both ways (from me to you, and at December from you to me)
- If you order anything from my sticker shop from the end of April till the middle of June, and you note me that you would like to help, I put the camera next to the stickers, and send them out together.

If you are interested, please let me know!
Also if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for your help in advance!
Olivér

That's really exciting! You can reserve one camera for me, I will be very happy to contribute to this project!

I heard about this photographic technique last year on a very interesting website about Art in general, strange or astonishing things and much more...
