Hello Everyone,

As a human being and as an artist, I am fascinated by ambidexterity and I've been working on it for several years now. Whether I'm in the kitchen, working around the house, or taking notes in university, I will always use my opposite hand and I've taken it to the stage where I can draw ambidextrously quite well. Am I alone in this matter? Is there anyone else who is fascinated by ambidexterity? We have two hands and two hemispheres in the brain. Why, then, do most of us disregard our opposite side? Thoughts? Ideas? Stories?

Hi, very nice this drawing with both hands, you should try this: draw a circle with one hand and simultaneous a square with the other hand.

I think it is a good idea to practice using your "weak" hand. A few years back I broke a finger in my strong hand, and it was very frustrating not being able to do the simplest things. @mixer, I think that there is a big difference between being able to do any task equally well with with either hand, and being able to do two dissimilar things simultaneously. But it would be a good party piece if you could pull off the square/circle thing

I find it more interesting that nearly everyone favors one hand over another rather than using both.

In high school I was using a computer so much every day that my forearms really ached and I was developing RSI (repetitive stress injury) in my right wrist and forearm.

I switched to using the mouse with my left hand (without swapping the buttons to a left-handed configuration) and for months I just couldn't get the left and right clicks correct. I spent a significant amount of time with Minesweeper and other precision-clicking tasks that use both the right-and-left mouse button to try to get used to using the mouse left-handed. Nothing worked.

Then one day I gave in and swapped the mouse buttons. By the end of the day using the mouse left-handed felt natural.

I've met many others that also use the mouse left-handed but most do so naturally with the right-handed button configuration. I just can't. My brain can mirror right-handed to left-handed tasks but it can't simply translate them to my left side.

I can do one hand 3x3 solves with both hands ...yet i find it easier to use my left hand even though im right handed...my daughter writes and draws with both hands which i find interesting...normally by now at her age a dominent side has taken over......

One of these days I will learn to sign my first name with my left hand while simultaneously sign my last name with my right hand.

That's a great challenge. I think I might work on that.




I have experimented with that a little, but definitely would need some practice.
