As I mentioned in my recent topic about an exhibiton of my puzzle collection and thereby the exposure to the public and the involved risk of robbery, I have come to some other horror scenarios.

I present:
"Not for the kids..."

*YOU WAKE UP*
Your whole puzzle collection is gently, nicely distrubuted out on the road... slowly comes a steamroller....
You are made sit watch like in A Clockwork Orange.

The steamroller is so slow, it takes about 4 seconds to run over evry single one of your precious puzzles and as you hear the plastic break and the puzzle pieces shatter in all directions or caught under the enormous weight only to be crushed to shapeways powder, you feel the craks like it was your own bones ... untill the very end. But wait! The steamroller stops.. only one puzzle left.
And its your KO 11x11x11...



please come up with and share your own puzzle related horror scenarios.

(and please dont say something like a Saw-scenario where you have to solve the rubiks cube one handed, blinded folded only in God's algorithm to survive or something.... come on! grow up!

So you wake up on a dark and stormy morning. Everything is dark and stormy....and totally cliche. Of a sudden, puzzles start to fall from the sky. Rubik's brand, Mefferts brand, that crappy KO brand you never knew existed, puzzles that you have always wanted since you were 2 years old types of puzzles fall out of the sky. All of a sudden, you find yourself tied to a pole left to watch this glorious event happen and not being able to claim any twisty puzzle for your own--and did I mention that your most favorite puzzle to solve is sitting right in front of you and is unsolved and you can't do anything about it?

At my previous employer I brought all of my puzzles into the bookshelves in my cubicle. It started out very small but as I acquired puzzles it grew quite large. I realized it grew so big that if I had been fired and been given a box to take my possessions I would only be able to fit a third of the collection or so. As it came time for a job change it was actually something I worried a bit about it.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket in your cubicle.

OK, you wake up and go into your kids' bedroom.. All appears normal at first. But, there are all these small square and triangular stickers stuck to the walls and all over their beds. Now where did they all come from ?

My dog once tried to "solve" a 3x3x3 once. Things did not go well (he had trouble orientating the corners ). Now imagine all your puzzles coated in beef gravy, and a pack of wolves ...

It's all lies - we are not convinced. All those excellent videos showing us how to solve all sorts of crazies, and not a sticker in sight!

Seriously though, they may be trying to tell you something. My lot moan whenever I pick up a cube, but they are old enough now to know the stickers stay on if they want their pocket money. (If I haven't already spent it on more cubes )

Actually, that's my other nightmare: Someone switches all the planet stickers on the crazies !
Wait.. that's not a bad idea, I'm going to switch all the white caps and play a trick on my wife .

I just had to let you know how this all went down..

I left her 2 favourite planets Neptune and Earth scrambled on the bedside table `with the centre caps swapped over`. She sees them and as any reasonable person would, she thinks.. Oh, how thoughtful, my 2 favourite puzzles scrambled for me .. a few minutes later.. "What's wrong with this cube!! Something's happened to it!! " "Oh, that would be because I `changed the centre caps` as a joke " Got her big time.

So, she starts solving the Earth (branded Neptune), and as is her habbit leaves it half finished and goes away

And as is my habbit (of being a right pain), I change out the centre caps, scramble the Earth (because the Neptune was scrambled) and solve the Neptune to look like her half solved Earth was, and switch their places on the bedside table . He he..

Later the next day.. "What's wrong with this.. Oh, I can't believe you got me twice with the same trick!! You!!"

I mean, I don't know how she got all mixed up, right, I mean, there was nothing wrong with those cubes the second time..

PS I think the nightmare might be letting me near your cubes.

1: All of your puzzles over all of the years of collecting piled up in an open box. Stickers scraped, occasional V-cube pieces scattered, the works.
2: You, tied to a chair bolted to the ground, right in front of the box.
3: A bucket on the edge of a table, filled with none-other than mixed Part A and Part B of an entire gallon unit of Smoothcast ONYX!
4: Right above the box, the bucket begins to tip...

Oh no, I'm a kid and I read this! The trauma!!

The worst situation (that actually happened to me) goes like this:
*le dreaming about having a dogic*
*wakes up*
"WHERE'S MY DOGIC?!"

As for the worst one you can imagine... it would probably be every puzzle designer standing on top of a building ready to jump. Individual puzzles are replacable, but creativity isn't...

Haha, even worse - Gel A and Gel B of 5-minute Epoxy.....
