Who here is totally stoked for Portal 2?

I just can't stop watching the teaser videos they keep releasing. They're wonderful. I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best games ever.

Here is a playlist of all the teaser videos Valve has released on YouTube:

I saw this and my heart leapt. I can not wait for this game to come out. Portal is my favorite game, ever. Can you link to some of the teaser videos?

I'm also looking forward to the game. The first portal game was a little too easy, as far as the "puzzle" part goes. I heard the new game is quite challenging.

I've preordered it (or course!) but I'm worried that it will be sent to my school when I am still on easter holiday... Then I'd have to go a whole week without it :(

I would be if I had something that would run it. My laptop ran the first one OK but the framerate wasn't the greatest.

...And those advanced test chambers were hard! But I did manage to beat them all.

I pre-ordered it after I saw their Valentines day promo. I love Portal so much.

I actually have been trying to stay away from the videos so that discover all the stuff for the first time when I play it. Before I played the original Portal, I happened to see a few minutes of a speed run doing some puzzles and that kind of ruined the "AHA!" moment of figuring them out when I did it.

I would love to have it, but sadly enough I don't have the money to spend on a game for the moment...

I hope however that it will be longer than the first Portal, it olny takes me 1-2h to play trough it...

I know what you mean. Every time I start to play Portal for "Just a few rounds", I end up playing through the entire campaign.

Portal 2 is a full game (two, actually, with the separate two-player game also being a complete game), where Portal was just an add-in to the Orange Box.
That said, I pre-ordered instantly!!

I certainly played through that. Some of the levels lacked polish, and I REALLY wish they hadn't used those computer generated voices for everything, but all in all, it was pretty fun.

Portal 2 is available to pre-load on Steam now. Game is 9.7 GB. Should be a lot more great content than Portal 1.

yes the campain of portal 1 was very quickly run through. but the story and all the custom levels made it worth it!
Plus it gave us expectation to see a #2! I am quite psyked and pumped over the new one. I really can't wait to try it out!
ESPECIALLY the co-op mode! This was one of my initial thoughts of what number 1 lacked.
It's really great that they came up with so many new features and obsticles! But I still miss one thing..
Real weapons!

How about some online PvP??? I guess we will have to wait till v3 comes...

I am still psyked tho :P

At first I thought you were crazy, but then I read something in the portal news feed in steam. Apparently, the president of Steam sent out some strange cryptic messages that when analyzed reveals this secrete message.

Quote:
i released 'kick it' ahead of schedule. that was a test. my goal is to emancipate something else early. but they're on to me. the system is on lockdown. i still have access to thirteen off-site chambers and am installing a test in each one. i am going to need a lot more test subjects to move forward. waiting and am expecting immediate compliance.

4/19/2011_7AM=4/15/2011_9AM
For people who aren't as obsessed with Portal 2 like me, 4/19/2011 7AM EST is the announced time when Portal 2 will be playable on Steam. The last hint suggests it could possible be released on tomorrow.

If you read those pages I linked, some people think you'll only get the early release if you buy some other $38 steam package.

I'm still not sure if I believe any of it. But even if the last part was true, I'm not going to be paying $40 to play it 4 days early. I love Portal, but not that much.

I thought I should also also mention that anyone who hasn't played Portal since it was first release should play it again. The developers have made a few changes.

First is that they've basically added another challenge map for the entire game. Between virtual every particle field, there is an additional radio. You have to find the radio and then bring it to some other special spot on the map. You'll know you've found the special spot when the music fades away and it starts sounding like Morse Code. Just as an example to show how it's done, grab the radio in the room you start in. Take it to the button and you'll activate it or whatever. There's 26 radios hidden throughout the game. I found this addition to be really fun and challenging.

The second change is the little movie clip you see after you kill GlaDos. It's not a big change, but it takes 5 minutes to kill GlaDos to see it.

Are any of you guys following the craziness of the Potato Fools Day ARG? It's like the world of Portal is seeping into other indie games. It's really fun to read about, and it's absurdly complex, with codes, hidden messages, images, and more. It feels like some sort of huge conspiracy between Valve and a lot of other game developers.

Here's a link to a fun overview of what's happened since Steam released the Potato Sack pack of 13 games with updated content that hinted (sometimes subtly, sometimes not) at stuff in Portal 2. http://dejobaan.net/dl/helpme/ It's an overview, but it's also part of the ARG itself.

Those of you who have preordered on Steam may want to preload now, just in case it comes out tomorrow at 9am as mentioned here: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/04/v ... t-tuesday/

I'm not sure what parts of this ARG are real, but it's definitely a fun time! If it comes out tomorrow, I probably won't be on the forum much this weekend! 8-)

I looked at some of it. Kind of confusing. I'm not sure where most of that data is coming from or how they're getting it. I kind of wish I knew how to play the ARG.
They have a whole wiki setup about it and an IRC full of people trying weird stuff from random data: http://valvearg.com/wiki/Valve_ARG_Wiki
But at this point, there's not much to do because....

A bunch of us have been playing through Portal in lunch break at work. All the challenge levels too. Just to get ready for the best game of the decade! I am personally looking forward to the 2-player. It will cause so many arguments when it becomes apparent that one of you is not as good as the other...

Oh - the timer is a lie!

Is it releasing in 15 minutes?

Thanks to those videos pirsquared linked to, I'm looking forward to this to. I don't have any money, but quite a few of my friends are addicted to Portal so there's that chance I'll see how this one is.

I went ahead and bought the potato sack. There's quite a few games in there that look good and an extra Portal 2 co-op skin. I hope they keep the portal ARG stuff in them for a while.

Suspense is killing me..
