Is anyone participating in Nation Novel Writing Month, 50,000 word writing challenge starting November 1st? I just signed up and am pretty excited about the challenge really. Luckily my exams finish on Nov 3 and study doesn't start again until 15 Nov so I may just be able to pull it off without throwing my study down the drain in the process!

I'm not aiming for anything glorious, I'm pretty sure that noone will ever even read it, but I have a feeling it is going to feel great to spin so many words into something entertaining :)

If you have participated before please share your tips too!

Peta

Hopefully I can write something for nanowrimo this year. I've wanted to do it since 2007 or 2008, but never end up getting into it.

I don't really think of myself as that good of a writer but I want to try this. It sounds like fun and I have a lot of ideas i would like to see on paper.

I don't know much about nanowrimo. I usually don't participate in writing challenges, but I do a significant amount of writing... Let me browse the site.

After browsing the site, I'm interested! Is this an international competition, or is "National" true to its name?

This bump is because now the NaNoWriMo reaches it's end.

Now that the NaNoWriMo has come to the final few days, the time has come to validate the novels. Who on this forum gave up, never started, or is in reach of the finish line?

As it is thanksgiving, I figured I would thank hysterical Oliver for introducing me to it.

Thought I would bump this thread, because a new NaNoWriMo is beginning in just a few days. I have a basic plotline set out for this year, so hopefully I'll fare better than last year (I only managed to make it to around 2000 words).

So, are any other forum members planning on trying it out? I'm hoping to make it the full way this year, but I'll have to see how it conflicts with schoolwork/life.

My first NaNo starts the day before finals for me. I have a general plotline but definitely need to understand characters in my story better before starting.

I won it last year and I'm winning again this year. I did it last year without even an idea and I won Script Fenzy and Julnowrimo with some planning. This year I have 20k words in just plans, let alone outlines and character trees and game rules. My Nano is under the name Ender Delphiki if you want a synopsis.

I just wanted to add, this is the most fun I've had wasting time in months! (Though it can hardly be called a waste. What else do we do with free time?)

It's not too late to sign up! Here's me!

I'd be doing this if not for my lack of a personal computer.

I should get a laptop in time for JulNoWriMo, though, so watch out.

I really got into writing late last year and was hoping to participate in nanowrimo this year. Biggest killer will be driver's ed (in school for about 10 hrs instead of 7 :p) and black ops, but ill try.
