I recently got back into collecting puzzles after a few years of putting my collection on the back burner. One of the puzzles that I've always tried to get a hold of has been one called Tsukuda's Square, It, and 4x4. It's a 4x4 grid of sliding tiles. It's hard to explain.

Here's a link: http://www.geocities.com/jaapsch/puzzles/it.htm

During my original collecting days I was never able to add this one to my collection. It was my 'White Whale' of sorts I suppose you would say. Now that I have gotten back into collecting the 'White Whale' is back! After not seeing any for a while for sale I've seen 3 of them on Ebay in the past few months alone. I wasn't able to get them though. I wasn't near my computer at the right time and I didn't anticipate the price that they sold for.

Does anyone out there have one of these that they are planning on selling? I've noticed that the ones on Ebay have been sold by the same person. I've constantly e-mailed him/her to see if they were planning up another one for sale, but I never seem to get a response. There are a few variations of the puzzle and I can't seem to add any of them to my collection.

Am I the only one who this puzzle has been eluding all of this time? I know why I want the puzzle, but is this puzzle really that sought after in the puzzle collecting community that the sale of them is so few and far between?

Let me know...

It's been a while since I've seen the version that you posted a picture of. Just curious, is the one with the letters in a solved state? Is it like Boggle where you have to see what words you can spell by linking letters (only in Spanish)?

Also, does anyone know off-hand who makes all of the varieties of T. Square, 4x4, & It? I know that Gabriel made T. Square. What about the other 2 kinds? And years too if anyone knows.

Thanks.

This is the one I have. I have not seen any others like it on ebay in the last few years. I recently saw a new numbered one sealed in the box on ebay, but the seller was asking wayyyyy tooo muccch for it.

That's the same as mine http://helm.lu/cube/cubcol/x_11.jpg which I got from David Singmaster in the mid 80's, unfortunately without packaging.

Hell, I'd even trade away one of my double-layer Rubik cheese/pucks for a TS, it, or 4x4!

Don't underestimate the value of that Cheese. I think you would get a few more puzzles for the Cheese if it's an authentic Cheese.

yes, i know that I didn't bet, but I saw that you did. I was going to bet at the last couple of minutes, but circumstances beyond my control prevented me from being near a computer. I noticed that the last couple 4x4s were sold by the same person. Anyone know if the seller has any more of them? I sent a question + have not heard back yet. anyone else wanna try?

The seller may have more but he wants a nice price for them. I won the last one that he listed for about $72. However, the reserve was not met. I asked what the reserve was and offered him $100. He said that the last one he sold went for around $200 so he declined my $100 offer. This last one was higher than what I wanted to pay but to get one mint in the box for less that what the reserve was the last time is fine with me.

I would ask him if he will be listing any more.

I Emailed the seller again and asked about the reserve prices and whether any more would be for sale. he finally got back to me. Here is what he said:

"I'm sorry that I haven't been able to get back to you earlier, but to answer your questions I am not sure if I am going to be selling any more of the puzzles at this time. Check back with me. As for the reserve prices - the first 4x4 that I sold was opened so I set the reserve at $70 to find out a market price. That one sold for around $130 so that it what I set the reserve for the 2nd 4x4 (packaged) at. It is true that one of the puzzles I was selling only got up to $70 so I had to relist since it was below the reserve. There was no reserve for the 3rd one. I just set the starting bid at $130. All three of them sold for around $130 give or take a few dollars. I don't know where you got $200 from. Could have been another seller."
