I'm interested in obtaining a 2x3x3 that functions like the Rubik's Domino, but with a single plastic colour and stickers like the Rubik's Cube. This custom mod by Tony Fisher in the database a perfect example (glad at least one person has done this)

Active member, but not very active puzzle maker at the moment. I can probably work on an all black 2x3x3 domino as it's much less Time consuming than some others, but it would still take a while.

Thanks everyone, but after finding more about the custom versions, I'm concerned about how well they'd turn, and if it would be worth all of the trouble for something I had to be so gingerly careful with, and difficult to turn quickly. Thoughts?

Richard, the 2x2x3 puzzle made by Jin (Franken Tower as he called it) that I have is of very high quality, and turns beautifully. I also have the connecting piece for siamese Pyraminx made by Jin, and that one is also of high quality and made with precision. Hope this helps. I vouch for Jin's craftsmanship, but ultimately you will have to make your own decision.

I just thought you should know that I have never made a 2x3x3, or a 2x2x3 for that matter. In the past both have been attributed to me in various different places. I designed a way of making both from regular 3x3x3s but never actually made them.

I second that. I've got a couple of Jin's puzzles, and they are production quality. If I had more money, I'd buy at least one of everything he builds.

Furthermore, if you get an actual Domino, you will probably be horrified about how poorly it functions without some intensive cleaning and lubing. Mine was, and still is, complete crap. It sorta feels like one of my worst ever puzzle purchases (probably because it was so expensive), and it's a real Rubik.

My split spindle Domino turns awesome as well with just a shot of Rubik's "Cube Lube." My grooved domino however is barely worth the money I paid for that lousy hunk of plastic.

Like Sandy said, if I had more money, I would get one of each of Jin's puzzles. They are unbreakable......try one of them in person if you happen to see them. lol, I find it strange that his custom made puzzles are 99999....times more solid/strong/higher quality than any rubiks.com/meffert's puzzles. Just my short review ~

Guilty as charged. I didn't get some decent lube until long after my interest in my new Domino had died away. I really should try it though.
