Hi! :D

It´s been a while since my last visit here and as I see, things are going crazy here.
Awesome new puzzles are being designed and modded and so on.

Seeing this, I feel like I should build some puzzles. :)

I am thinking about the idea of making a couple more Rhombic Triacontahedrons, as it was my favourite puzzle mod.

So I am generally asking, if anyone would be interested.

I haven´t built any puzzles yet, I am just trying to find out, what you would think

So tell me your thought about this :)

Best regards, David

Go for it. Rhombic Triacontahedron Megaminxes aren't really that hard to make. Just shave down the edges and corners between centers and build up the the centers a bit. Best of luck to you.

I remember Klickflip as an experienced modder from my research several years ago.
So, I guess, he does know very well how to build them.
I understand that he is asking if somebody would like to buy one.

Klickflip, maybe I should better move this topic to the Marketplace sub forum?
Maybe, a few pictures of your past modifications would help your case?

EDIT: OK, I have moved it anyway :) I think it fits better here and will get more recognition from possible buyers.

I would be very interested in buying one if the price is right. So, what would you be asking for.

Not hard in concept but surely not easy in practice to get a precise result. Lucky for us Kickflip1993 has shown his skill at those details.

I am not in the market but look forward to seeing what you make!

Thanks Konrad for moving this Topic into Marketplace :)

And yes, I would like to build them to sell them afterwards.

I was thinking about 80€ including shipping to anywhere in the world.

I forgot how to embed to videos here, but thats one i build about 1.5 years ago. :)

Thanks!

You cannot embed videos here directly, so, a link to a Youtube video is the way to go.

How many different colours are you going to use?
Would the base Megaminx be the same type as in your video?

I looked the puzzle up in our Museum.
It was first built by Hidetoshi in 2005 using 10 colours for the stickers.
(I guess TP etiquette requires that you ask member Hidetoshi for his agreement, if you want to sell them through the TP forum.)

I might be interested as well. :)

I would be interested in buying one of these-especially it's made from a good megaminx.

Thanks for clearing this up Konrad. ;)

I would like to make 30-coloured versions.
The megaminx I would use as a base was called "PVC" Megaminx back then, so it is a QJ Megaminx.

A couple of years ago I made some Megaminx modding (for speedsolving) videos, so i am planning on preparing the puzzles pieces for smoother turning. Basically just sanding the uneven parts of the corners and edges. (although the shape of the puzzle doesn´t allow fingertricks)

I will ask Mr. Hidetoshi if it is okay for him to sell it here.

Thanks :)

PS.: I have my version from ~2009. Made by Andreas. This puzzle is one of my most favorites.

I just got a message from Mr. Hidetoshi :)

He wrote me that it would be okay for me to build the Rhombic Triacontahedrons and sell it here.

The Megaminxes are ordered already and the "tool" I´m building is coming out great.
I will post a picture of it, when I am done :)

Update!

The Megaminxes arrived.
I thought that the QJ Megaminxes were equivalent to the PVC-Megaminxes, but obviously the QJ-Minxes have hollow pieces.

I will start building the puzzles after a very important test I´ll be having on wednesday next week.

And... there will be a twist. I will only build 9 puzzles, not 10. The tenth one will be a bit more special ;)

I also made pictures of the "tool" I built, here you go! :)

@ Pouring Bees: I sent a PM ;)

My important test is done, let the modding begin^^

Smooth Cast 300 Onyx and OOMOO-30 were ordered today for making the center pieces.

The original "master pieces" will be handmade from plastic sheet.

Hello everybody!

I´ve been working on the puzzles for a couple of weeks now and I can say things are going well :)

Three puzzles are cut and filled and only need fine sanding and paint.
The first Rhombic Triacontahedron will be finished probably by Wednesday.
I´ll just have to wait some days for Olivér´s stickers to arrive, then I would be able to ship out the first one :)

8 out of 9 puzzles are already reserved for people that contacted me.

I messaged all the people that showed interest, but didn´t get a message for 10 days, so I think it is okay to announce this here. ;)

One question that comes to my mind is, how stickering is done on this cube.
Is there a standard colour-scheme, or should I just sticker so that similar colours don´t touch?

Best regards
David 8-)

Thanks for the update, David!

I guess you should follow aesthetic rules.
Warmer colours on one hemisphere, cooler colours on the other is something that can work nicely.
I wouldn't mind if similar colours touch.
With 30 colours one will need good lighting during the solve, anyway
E.g. on my Tuttminx 3 yellows meet at one corner and it looks nice while it is no problem for solving it.

Have you got pictures of your previously built Triacontahedron?

Thanks Konrad!

I will then sticker them "randomly" (dark and light colours opposite of each other).

I only have a video of the puzzle.
It is attached in the 6th post.

And for selling the puzzles, first come first serve will be the attitude ;)
