Firstly, I don't think I'm breaking the rule about posting live auctions as these are "Buy It Now" listings and the seller seems to have a lot of them but if I am just let me know and I will remove the post.

Secondly, I am not the seller nor do I know them so I don't know how trustworthy these offers are, you will have to decide for yourselves.

Currently on ebay there is a seller that seems to be selling twisty puzzles at unbelievably cheap prices with free shipping:

Petaminx for $60

Eitan's Star for $35

MF8 Gigaminx for $21

Wheel of Wisdom for $40

As I said I accept no responsibility if you have any problems but if these prices are true.....Merry Christmas!

EDIT: OK sorry, this is looking more like a scam as the prices have now dropped to $20 on some of these which is surely impossible

It looks like the Petaminx is now only $20. Yea, I doubt these are legitimate offers.

EDIT: just took a closer look...

I see, he's selling us pictures of the puzzles

It looks like they only sell puzzles and coats. Maybe they sell highly overpriced coats or are desperate to get rid of some of their excess cubes. I'm just kidding if anyone is wondering, but I will buy the petaminx, and if it does come for real then I will inform you. But you might have to wait until January for that. Just helping you and myself out. I guess it's a win-win.

They have another listing for the Petaminx where they describe it's size and weight and smooth movement quality! here and don't mention any paperback accessories!! but it is still only $20 too!!

Don't get me wrong though - I think there is something very "scammy" about this but with paypal protection I am going to give it a shot too (wasn't there a a petamix site a while ago offering really cheap deals on cubes but then never posting them?, hopefully this isn't the same person now selling on ebay!)

I'll bite for $20 on the Wheel of Wisdom. eBay will back you up 100% if anything goes wrong, so this is a no brainer for me.

A couple days ago he was auctioning off large puzzles like Eitans star for 11 bucks. I bought a 10x10 for 60 (about half price!). The dude doesnt even have a questionable feedback rating.

I was actually hoping nobody would post about him so I could keep the bargains to myself

It could be that a puzzle distributor went out of business and this seller obtained them for next to nothing and just wants to get rid of the stock? That's the only logical explanation as far as I can see but hey I'll maybe get a couple and if it turns out to be too good to be true then ebay and paypal will be on my side hopefully.

Many ebay sellers do this. Often an issue can be worked out with the seller. Sometimes people will just immediately start ranting and give a terrible review for a problem that could possibly have been easily fixed. I'm getting a few puzzles from this seller as it seems to be trustworthy from the reviews given. The only bad ones are for the clothing that the seller also sells.

what does this mean, from the listings?

Quote:
It do no items Package tracking numbers!

I can't imagine he'd be exclaiming the fact that he won't be providing tracking numbers.

It could maybe be a poor translation from Chinese like the rest of the text seems to be?

I saw this a few weeks back as well.

Read carefully for the Petaminx and Eitan's Star and you will see he is most likely selling the stickers of these puzzles, which do indeed have paper backing.
I believe the picture and wording is intentionally misleading but structured to be able to plausibly claim they are selling what they advertised.

The Gigaminx clearly states a plastic puzzle however, so not sure about that. The Wheel of Wisdom is a bit more vague.

Watch out, and remember that things that seem too good to be true most likely are just that.

Dave

The product details though are as follows on the one I'm looking at for reference here. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger on this one but the guy has been doing this since 2011 and has 500 positive reviews. Not saying that means he isn't a scammer but it certainly makes this an interesting case either way:

Quote:
Features:

New and high quality, never used.Smooth ,fault-tolerant is quite good.Spring structured design!
Material: plastic
Each magic cube with original manufacturer color-box.
arenaceous pvc sticker-Nice touch
As birthday gifts or festival gifts for childern is wonderfull!!!

Product Details:
Age: above 6 years old

Size: 16cm x16cm x 14.5cm

Net: 1020g

ABS material PVC stickers

Color:Black

Easy & Smooth to move high quality

EDIT: Here is the seller's page as well: http://www.ebay.com/usr/mofang2013

It does seem too good to be true, and the old addage that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is I'm fairly confident fits here.

However, the Eitan's star clearly states in the title:

New arrival Mf8 20 sides magic cube DIY black with set of 651 stickers puzzles

and in the description:

New and high quality, never used.Smooth ,fault-tolerant is quite good.Spring structured design!
Material: plastic
Each magic cube with original manufacturer color-box.

That's the puzzle and the stickers, nobody could claim it isn't, legitimately. I'm sure paypal protection would refund the money if it turned out to only be the stickers, therefore, yes, I just purchased Eitan's star. I won't be in the least bit surprised if i don't get one, but I will claim the money back from paypal if that is the case

Edit: I've actually now also bought the Petaminx and Bauhinia, because if these are genuine the prices are too good to miss for sure. If they are a scam, I have no doubt that I can claim my money back as the descriptions are specific about containing puzzles:

Color : black

Cube Height : 91.5mm

Side Length of Pentagon : 40mm

Cube Net Weight : 315g

Gross Weight(Cube+Replacement Set Stickers+Box) : 365g

Dimension of the package box : 117mm*106mm*96mm

Stickers: colors PVC stickers, DIY by buyer

There is no way the seller can claim that the sale is on;y for stickers with a description like that, yes it says you have to apply the stickers yourself, but it in no way implies that you only get stickers. So since I am confident of getting my m oney refunded if it is a scam, it seems silly not to at least try.

He sold many Petaminx at $60 and then simply reduced price to $20 and still selling many of then not satisfied he reduced price again to $18, he is desperated needing money!

Seriously Dudes, that is thruly unbelievable :scrambled:

I just ordered a bunch of puzzles for sticker mods. Protected by eBay, PayPal, and my credit card so I don't think the risk is too high.

I also ordered one of those Android TV things he is selling. For $11 is could be something fun to play around with.

edit: Was anyone able to use the eBay shopping cart with these? I first placed a bunch of items in it only to get to the cart and find it empty. I had to place a bunch of separate orders.

The more you read these listing the more you realise that he must be selling stickers. At these prices, with free delivery, he would lose money on the postage and packing alone. IILTGTBTIUI. The next cheapest Petaminx on Ebay costs $210. and this clearly states "Item package included: 1 x mf8 Petaminx". Why does our guy never explicitly state what is in the package?

This Android thing for 11 USD is a "mini" HDMI pc. You can make smart tv from your simple tv. I have one. I have bought about 60 USD...
I don't belive that he can sell it 11 with worldwide free shipping. :?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINI-Dual-core-Android-4-1TV-Box-MK808-RK3066-pc-Air-Fly-Mouse-RC12-ARRIVE-AA-/181284623144?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a3567d328

Puzzles prices: I think these prices are under the construction fee..

Maybe he get it like debit inted of money, and would like to unload it...?

Dear mofang2013,

Hi,

I am interested in the Petaminx and the xxxxxx 9x9. The price is very low - is the price for a full new puzzle?
Or is this just for stickers?

Thank you!

If you go here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MF8-Black-cube- ... 27dc321783

and you want to buy several packs of teraminx+petaminx, the system accepts just now a quantity of 589 (+25 sold...). This means that the buyer said to paypal that he had 589+24=614 packs of teraminx+petaminx...

I think that we should notify to paypal about this seller.

Please keep in mind to get a refund via paypal, you have 45 days from the time of purchase.
If stall tactics are being used, open up a claim prior to the 45 days or you have no recourse.

I sent the seller a message saying
"Is this listing for an actual puzzle? or a representation of the puzzle? If it is the actual puzzle shown, how can you manage to sell it, and so many other puzzles, so cheaply?"

and he replied

"End clean-up warehouse. Promotion"

Sounds like they might be shutting down their puzzle business and just want to unload stock... Anyway, I ordered a Petaminx and am seriously considering Eitan's star, Ebay ensured after all.

I might just get Eitan's Star for my friend as a late Christmas gift. Also, the Petaminxes are $18 and the teraminxes are just $16! This guy is making many people happy about his promotion. Like I said, MF8 top executive, which seems like a good guess at this point.

I'm not feeling too good about posting this - I have ordered some puzzles from this seller (when they were more expensive!!!) but I am really starting to think it's some kind of scam. I'd love if MF8 would post here just to say if it's a likely scenario that someone would have 600+ petaminx in stock and if it would be possible to even break even selling them at $18 including free postage and ebay fees.

I've noticed a lot of his puzzles are from MF8 - including the just released Wheel of Wisdom, so if they were clearing their warehouse surely there is someone who would buy these rather than trying to flog them on ebay and harm the sale of these just released puzzles everywhere else.

I hope I am wrong but urge anyone thinking of buying to be sure they have cash to spare as getting a refund can take time - waiting for delivery 3 - 4 weeks and then another couple of weeks waiting for paypal to refund.

He might be one of the top executives at MF8, therefore he gets free puzzles to sell if he likes. Just a theory.........

Well the problem with this theory is that he sold around 47 petaminx, and I hightly doubt that mf8 would give around 50 petaminx to an employee.

Like I said, MF8 top executive, which seems like a good guess at this point.
You are so wrong on this one it's not funny. Well, it is. See, I know the "top executives" of all those companies that he is selling puzzles from and well.....

I'm still holding on to my theory that a distributor went out of business and sold the remaining stock at a loss to cover some costs and this guy picked up the puzzles and is now selling them.

The only true way to tell now is wait and see if legitamate functional puzzles arrive to those who have purchased them. There's enough of us that he won't last long if he's a fraud.

Tracking numbers always take a while to become active.

Finally, no way, can require the seller to close the transaction, the seller replied very readily.

The first reason for the seller to close the transaction requires the cube is: no stock

The second reason for the seller, and the third cube is required to close the transaction: the buyer to purchase an error

Finally bought a result, all closed transactions ...
That's the attitude of the seller towards Chinese buyers. So I recommend carefully when you decide to purchase something

I also got a tracking number, if he were to send stickers in an envelope he would not put a tracking number right? It has to be a package, so yeah if I recieve a petaminx an Eithan's star and a tuttminx for 50 dollars I would be quite happy hahhaha

After reading Yezi's comment, I want to warn you all, because to me it seems that this person (who apparently is from China) doesn't want to sell to chinese people for a reason: they might be people that work at MF8 and are able to find him. This doesn't look like a scam, this looks like handling of stolen puzzles to me.
Buying stolen goods is also against the law. This seems to good to be true: beware!
