I'm thinking about buying a cube from the HK Now Store, and I was wondering: is it a good place to buy cubes or not?

Also, I selected USD from the selection, but when I went to checkout the price was in Hong Kong Dollars. Is there a conversion later down the checkout process?

One more thing: what methods of payment do they use?

HK Now Store is great. Calvin has absolutely great customer service. Free shipping on everything. I don't believe they have paypal so just pay with a credit card.

EDIT: I guess I was wrong about paypal. oops

Overall, extremely good. Customer service and followup is normally fantastic. I'm in Australia and the selection only has USD or HKD, so I select USD and once I pay it shows the final amount in HKD, and when the money's taken from my account, it's already been converted into Aust $.

They use paypal mainly I think. It all works without a hitch. An email is instantly sent detailing what you bought, and another email also from paypal. About a day or two later, you get a third email with the tracking number.

I order from HK Now Store regularly (almost every week) and I can recommend them without hesitation. Prior to finalizing the order, I do like to check the total. To convert from HKD to my own currency, I use XE.

HK Now Store does have PayPal and if you use it, you will see the total in your local currency (e.g. USD or in my case CAD) and will have an opportunity to select one of your payment methods.

One warning though... if you have a spouse, SO or family member who looks over your shoulder as you are ordering, be sure they know that the prices on the order summary screen are in HKD!

You can order from Calvin without any hesitation! He has the best selection, the best customer service and probably the best prices anywhere!

You will find that most of us buy most of our cubes from him. He has great customer service for when the rare problem occurs (see the recent problems with the 2x3x4 cuboid which he resolved independently of the manufacturer).

As for payment - you can choose to display HKD or USD whilst shopping but at checkout it is always HKD which comes up. PayPal converts it to your local currency for payment.

The ONLY downside of using Calvin is the postage takes too long from Hong Kong - but the postage IS free and you can't expect Calvin to run the postal service! Or can we??

Calvin's store is outstanding regarding service and quantity of offered items where you actually can pay via Paypal. If you like to have his store compared to other sites as mefferts or witeden, I definately can recommend it.

I am also a very regular customer having ordered almost every puzzle I own directly from his site. I also encountered some small and one major problem regarding the ordered items. I am very pleased to say that there was not a single case in which Calvin or his staff could not solve the problem to my complete satisfaction.

If you like to, look at the "petaminx-thread" in the new puzzles secion. You will surely notice that all of the customers having ordered it from another shops and received a broken minx were quite shocked and wondered if there would ever be a replacement. The forum members who ordered it from Calvin were offered new minxes or new parts as soon as the complaints came up.

Personally, I don't think you will ever regret ordering from there.

I agree with you on all points, Calvins store is one of the best you will find out there :)
Though, I have also experienced the shipping times to be relatively short (though I live in Europe). My HKnowstore puzzles take substantially less time to arrive than puzzles from Mefferts for example.

Calvin's hknowstore is the best place to buy puzzles, bar none. Calvin provides excellent customer service. My puzzles arrive quickly and if there is a problem, he responds to my e-mails very promptly and resolves the issue in a very satisfactory manner. Usually Calvin is one of the first vendors to stock a new puzzle. If he doesn't have it, I will wait until he does.

I purchased 3 Pentaminx from HKNowstore for my friend. One of them was broken during transportation. After asking Calvin, he immediately accepts new replacement and send to me. I really appreciate HKNowstore and I would recommend it as one of the best place to purchase cubes.

I almost only purchase puzzles from HKnowstore! Calvin is a great guy and I want to support him and his business.
I only rarely find puzzles cheaper, say on ebay. He has great prices and great service.
You shop safely with Calvin :)

I have used HKnowstore a few time's and never had a problem. The only problem I have had was from customes holding it longer then they should.
I had one packadge held for a month and they could see what was inside.

Calvin has great customer service.
Price wise, most cubes are a few dollars more than on some other shops.
Shipping wise, it is very slow- it can take a week and a half just to process the order

Service is very good! Quick response, flexible price policy, replacement (if any) without any
problems. I feel that Calvin's business is to make customers happy. All new puzzles I buy on
that store. And also important note: you will receive puzzles of good quality.

Thanks for the responses everyone! :)

Maybe once I'm done with the cube I want to order I'll post it in the New Puzzles section!

Yes, I can also recommend Now Store very much! Here are my reason:

- They have an extremely wide variety of puzzles on stock
- The newest items are listed very early
- Parcels are sent with a tracking number always
- If logged in to your customer account you have access to actual and completed orders including the single prices and the parcel tracking number.
- On problems they help without discussions.

Perfect!

I agree with all the positive comments. The way Calvin has dealt with the 2x3x4 problems for me (which are not his fault) is exemplary.
