I have looked every where on the web to buy the black one. I even tried to email the site (wouldn't let me). Does anyone know how or where I can get a black one?

The 1x2x5 from this thread

And I'm no good at modding. I'm so bad, I couldn't even make a 1x2x3....it broke on me.

And I know some of the forum members are good at that. (please don't say "give it a try" i'm really bad :? )

Thanks
Melissa

You can get the red or blue ones on the hknowstore, you have to dye them to make them black I think.

I am the maker of this puzzle, and to be best of my knowledge you cannot buy a black version of the Hanayama puzzle. I took mine apart and cut it to make the proportional one shown in the thread. If you are not into modding at all, you could remove the stickers from a standard puzzle and try dyeing it black without disassembling it, but I wouldn't advise it. This is because you need to use acetone, which "melts" the surface of the plastic, in order for the dye to take. This melting would probably fuse the parts of the unassembled puzzle together :(

This is really a quite simple mod, the hardest part is taking the puzzle apart! Good luck.

Yeah knowing myself...I would probably burn down my house doing that. Or, something just as bad. :?

What about this...?

Worked fine for me, actually. Just be patient and don't go crazy with the acetone. I think I posted pictures here somewhere.
