There's a list of european (twisty) puzzle stores in the marketplace section. I would recommend Arabesk in Rotterdam, puzzlefans can spend weeks in there. Check the list for the link

The most novel twisty puzzles can be found in Leidschendam, which is midway Amsterdam and Rotterdam. They are a lot of fun, but a bit expensive.

It should be really easy to find. Take bus 17 from the station and just look for the building with the fractal maze floortiles.

There's also a pretty good puzzle shop in Nieuwegein but that's a bit far from Amsterdam, I'm afraid.

I stopped in last weekend after I got over my jet lag. Really impressive. Along with what you see in the pictures they've got 2 shelves of Go books and magazines, and another 4 shelves in back with nothing but Chess and bridge, along with a range of boards. Also they have the only 9x9 go board with legs I've seen.

But hiding at the top of the display case (of expensive puzzles, all sorts of stuff) were 2 square boards. One had a full set of laser-carved (I assume, didn't ask) wooden heptominos, and in back of that was a full set of octominos.

9x9 would be for shogi (Japanese chess).
