Hello,

As some of you know, I'm planning to make some 1x2x3s and then sell them to cover my costs. I am using Smooth-Cast 300, which is a white resin. However, I have received and noticed some interest in black 1x2x3s. I am looking to see whether it would be worth investing in dye/SC Onyx. If there is enough interest in blacks 1x2x3s, I will purchase some.

This is not a commitment to buy, but please do not vote if it is unlikely that you will want/be able to afford a puzzle in a couple of months' time. I do not know a definite price, but will get it to the lowest I can and still cover costs (I expect this to be around £10/$15-16 plus shipping).

This thread is mainly to see how many people would be interested in a black 1x2x3, but I needed at least two options. I will offer white puzzles as well. :D I will check the poll after about 10 days to gauge interest, bumping about halfway through to give everyone a chance to see it.

Thanks,

Alex

I'd probably get one, too.

In my opinion, Onyx is too much work for black resin. It's fragile, it always produces air bubbles under the stickers, it's a pain to get it the nice shiny black color you'd expect from a black resin, and I've experienced more problems concerning the consistency of each cast than I ever had with Smoothcast 300. If I were you, I'd get regular resin and dye it black. :)

If you do use Onyx, though, here's a hint: Always stir for more than 20 seconds!

I would probably buy one (white), provided the quality is good. I made one a while back, and I would expect a puzzle I'd buy to be better than what I made. I.e. I would want to see good quality photos of the puzzle before making the decision to place an order.

I would like to get a white one, but it depends on the price.

PS. There is no "I dont want to buy a 1x2x3" option in your survey.

That seems correct to me; He wants to know how many puzzles he can sell, he isn't trying to count the world's population.

the tile is "Would you interested in a black 1x2x3?" to this question we have two main answers - yes or no,
if you want to ask "Would you be interested in a black 1X2X3 or a white 1x2x3" so this is fine, in this case he should change the title.

Of course. Even though resin is quite expensive, I would never try to sell on substandard parts. I will post photos when they're made. :D

Yeah, the question might be a little confusing, but TomZ has the right idea. That's why I put the bit that says don't vote if you don't want a puzzle, I only want to know who will. Knowing how many won't isn't very useful to me. :D

I meant to bump this the other day but forgot. I'll keep it going for a few days more (maybe till next Wednesday) so people can vote. If any non-members would like a 1x2x3 but cannot vote in the poll, that's okay as when I offer the puzzles I should be able to take orders from non-members.

Looking at the poll, I think it'd be a good idea to provide black puzzles (14 votes for black). I will get in touch with Curetime and order as soon as possible. :D
