Thinking about the community and the forum, I have thought of an idea that could possibly lower the number of 'trivial' threads in here.
What I propose, is something like an IRC channel or a Java group chat.
What do you all think?

That does sound like a good idea. There already is a IRC room, but its mainly for speedcubing, its #rubik at irc.irchat.tv

Knock my idea and then come up with your own, huh?!
Hehe well, if it'll stop the meaningless thread chatter! Sure thing!
Start it up Pembo. At least they'll listen to you.

For those who use IRC, there is #twistypuzzles at irc.irchat.tv
I just set it up now.

I was thinking that setting up a beginners (newbie, noob) board here would be useful. This could work sorta like a faq section. With topics like "what is the best 4x4x4 cube". "how do i lube my DIY", "how to fix my broken center on 5x5x5","which method to start with after LBL" ... In other words those topics that pop up on this forum far too often. Model posts could be set up initially with links to topics already discussing that subject!

I actually like this beginner's section idea. The moderator can move threads there anytime if someone still posts something trivial in the main discussion section. This new section can be populated with topics from the main section initially.

Sounds good to me. I am such a beginner and to me it would be useful to know that I can ask beginners questions without anyone being annoyed with having to read something as trivial.
So far I find the General Topics Forum very interesting, but I simply cannot relate to many posts.
Also I think the General Topics Forum is much too general, too open. It needs some sorting. So why not start with a beginners forum.

The only real way to eliminate the "garbage" threads is to have an active moderator to lock those threads.

Personally Instead of a new Space For Beginner and FAQ Questions, Have a Stick Topic Explaining all the well know methods, and One on Types Of Cubes Like A Newbie Buyers Guide going over the Basics Of Lubing and The differences Between DIY Cubes Eashsheen/Rubiks Ect. I think Something Like that would save a lot of Posts And Threads that have Already been Discussed Numerous Times. More Recently Maybe A sticky on Getting faster. I may not have Been A member For to long But I've been Visiting this Page For A Really Long time Now just Reading and Believe that These would be Really Helpful For People.
*Edit, Maybe something On 2x2x2 Methods as well.

The idea is good and should come to reality rather soon. I sometimes have the impression that I am visiting a chat room.
