I think Kyle originally suggested this in teh general topic area:
There should be a thread area (like gen topics and speedsolving) Completely set aside for videos. That would be pretty sweet, would it not?

Of course, but none of the moderators have time. Until they do, I can live without...

What's the point of putting all videos in one thread? I would much rather have them in separate threads so that discussions don't collide.

Ah, I didn't pay much attention to the original post...
I thought you meant making a section of this website to add your personal rubik's videos to. That is what I would prefer.

Yeah, what is it called, a topic?
The list would look like:
General Topics
Speedsolving
Videos <-- New idea

I was thinking more of a section apart from the forum.
You'd scrow over "Site Features" at the top of the page and it would have "videos" as one of the options.

But what's the point? If I have a video for something I'm selling, I should put it under Marketplace. If I have a video of a fast solve, put it under Speedsolving. The topics are based on the topic of the idea being expressed, not the form in which they are presented.

Hmm, you have a point... I like Clayne's idea of a "site feature" though. A video archive? If you have a cool vidoe, put it in the archive!

This would be the closest (because it's more strict to puzzle content), only we would have more freedom (it wouldn't just be solves but maybe algs and tutorials or just crazy custom puzzles, etc.
Also, yeah...youtube. Maybe the archive could be a bunch of links to youtube videos (with a small discription for each + who posted it).

Youtube already has a whole bunch of videos, but non cubers can just go about posting stupid videos. Strangepuzzle is a little bit hidden, so people can't go on and post up lots of fake solves.
I vote strangepuzzle

StrangePuzzle.com don't keep the files, they just link to them.

So in the end we would be better off making a video archive

What I am saying is to put a video on strangepuzzles.com, you need to have the video file hosted on the internet, as the video file.

So they keep the files but still need an original post.. 50-50 on this one, everyone is right and everyone is wrong!

What I am guessing is that the person who runs SP (sorry forgot his name) downloads the file from the place it is hosted and then uploads it onto SP...

Doesn't video hosting eat a lot of bandwith? I know streaming radio and video is. Although just uploading video is easy, instead of this why not just upload to youtube and disable comments so they can only be talked about on this puzzling forum

Youtube allows embedding video into a webpage. I don't know if we can do that on this forum, but it's possible.
And you don't even need to turn off comments if we do just link it.
I'm not going to post comments on youtube, people can delete them.
edit: because I'm an idiot
