Sorry not to answer sooner. I don't check this bit very often (yes, I realise I should never have started this topic here).
I was using a JVC mini DV camcorder. I then transferred footage to my computer using Inter Video WinDVD creator (any video making software would do). I was also able to cut it down and save it to file ready for uploading to Google Video and Rapidshare. Now however I am using a Samsung i5 digimax digital stills camara with an mpeg4 facility. This allows you to record reasonable quality video directly to a memory card which I then slot into my computer. I still have to edit it a bit but it's a lot easier than messing around with wires and waiting while the footage is transferred.
